At present, brain tumors are mostly treated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, X-knife, gamma knife, etc. at home and abroad, but most of them are difficult to cure. Malignant tumors have a short course and develop rapidly. Depending on the degree of malignancy, the amount of surgical resection or the sensitivity of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the recurrence may be early or late. Tumors growing in important parts such as the brainstem and thalamus are difficult or impossible to operate on. After treatment with X-knife, radiotherapy, etc., the tumor may shrink or control its growth in a short period of time, and then the tumor will no longer grow or recur. Benign tumors have a long course and grow slowly. They are not prone to recurrence after complete surgical resection, but brain tumors growing in important parts such as the brainstem can only be partially or mostly removed by surgery, and the tumor will recur and grow again after surgery. The average survival rate of intracranial malignant tumors after radiotherapy and chemotherapy is less than one year. Benign gliomas, pituitary tumors, craniopharyngiomas, cholesteatomas and other intracranial benign tumors are not easy to be completely removed by surgery. Gamma knife, X-knife, and radiotherapy cannot completely kill the tumor, so most patients will still relapse after surgery.
Due to the particularity of brain cancer, many patients live and eat normally after the tumor disappears, but they still need to pay close attention to the brain and have regular CT scans. There is a possibility of recurrence. Therefore, for such cases, the family members of patients should not take it lightly.
