Early throat cancer treatment time

Early throat cancer treatment time

Laryngeal cancer usually develops from chronic pharyngitis. If it is not treated well in the early stage, it may develop into the late stage and affect the patient's health. What are the treatments for laryngeal cancer? Let's learn about it together.

Depending on the type of laryngeal cancer, the symptoms may appear earlier or later and the severity of the disease may also vary. The main symptoms are:

(1) Hoarseness: It is the earliest symptom of vocal cord cancer. It is usually persistent and gradually worsens. The early symptoms of subglottic cancer are not obvious, while hoarseness is a symptom of the later stage.

(ii) Foreign body sensation and pain in the throat: This is often an early symptom of supraglottic cancer. After the cancer ruptures, throat pain may occur, sometimes radiating to the ear on the same side. This is a late symptom.

(III) Coughing and blood in sputum: These symptoms occur after the cancer has ruptured and are common.

(IV) Difficulty breathing: This is a symptom of the later stage, indicating that the cancer has developed to the point of blocking the throat.

(V) Cervical lymph node metastasis: It can metastasize to the middle deep cervical lymph nodes on the same side, and may metastasize to the contralateral side in the late stage.

Treatments for laryngeal cancer generally include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. These three methods can be used alone or in combination. For patients with very small laryngeal tumors, radiotherapy alone may be the only option. For patients with larger tumors, in addition to radiotherapy, surgery may be required to remove part or all of the larynx. Of course, to avoid surgery, doctors may also recommend chemotherapy before radiotherapy, or chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the same time. If the cancer has spread beyond the larynx, radiotherapy is necessary.

Since we know that laryngeal cancer can cause such serious harm, we should pay attention to the prevention of laryngeal cancer in our daily lives and have regular diagnosis in order to detect related symptoms of laryngeal cancer and carry out early treatment.
