What are the treatments for gallbladder cancer

How to treat gallbladder cancer? Gallbladder cancer generally refers to malignant tumors originating from the gallbladder. From the perspective of histological classification, adenocarcinoma accounts for the highest proportion (greater than 80%), followed by squamous cell carcinoma, mixed carcinoma and undifferentiated carcinoma. Due to its high malignancy, easy early metastasis, difficulty in early detection, and insensitivity to chemotherapy drugs, the long-term efficacy of patients diagnosed with gallbladder cancer before surgery is worse than that of liver cancer and pancreatic cancer. The occurrence of gallbladder cancer will cause a lot of harm to the patient's normal life and work. Gallbladder cancer is not easy to be discovered in the early stages of the disease. The occurrence of gallbladder cancer will cause great harm to the patient. Gallbladder cancer patients can avoid the deterioration of the disease caused by adverse factors in life by doing a good job of nursing.

There are several surgical methods for treating gallbladder cancer:

1. Surgical treatment of gallbladder cancer Radical surgery for gallbladder cancer can be selected, but only when the lesion has invaded the patient's serosal layer, there is no regional lesion metastasis, and surgical resection is still possible, then extended radical cholecystectomy can be considered. The scope of general surgery includes partial liver resection, cholecystectomy, and lymph node dissection.

2. Resection of occult gallbladder cancer refers to patients who have no diagnosis before or during the operation, but are diagnosed with gallbladder cancer after pathological sections are performed during the cholecystectomy for a "benign" disease. Such patients can simply undergo cholecystectomy, and there is no need for extended radical surgery.

3. Patients with advanced gallbladder cancer can choose whether to undergo palliative surgery based on their condition. For patients who cannot be cured, surgery is only to relieve the patient's pain and improve the patient's quality of life in the later stage. Therefore, palliative surgery is used. If the patient is discovered early, surgery can still be performed. The patient should undergo surgery immediately, otherwise the patient's condition will further develop.

If the patient is confirmed to have early-stage gallbladder cancer, surgery can be performed to treat the cancer, improve the patient's quality of life, and prolong the patient's survival. Therefore, the patient needs to actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment.
