What should I do if I have osteosarcoma and it doesn't get better for a long time

Patients with osteosarcoma especially want to know what to do if osteosarcoma does not get better for a long time, because in reality many people cannot be cured for a long time after suffering from osteosarcoma, which will increase the pain of patients and also increase the financial burden on the family. Osteosarcoma can be treated by surgery, which has a better effect. The specific surgical methods are:

1. Incision. Cut from the anterior midline of the lower thigh through the patella to the tibial tubercle and then cut downward to about 5 cm below the lesion. Separate the rectus abdominis and vastus medialis muscles, cut the patellar ligament attachment point at the tibial tubercle, remove the patella, retain the patellar ligament and turn it proximally.

2. Expose and remove the tumor, separate it along the tibial condyle to both sides, cut the medial and lateral collateral ligaments and the cruciate ligament attachment points at the tibial condyle, and protect them properly. Dislocate the knee joint anteriorly, cut the posterior knee joint capsule and ligaments under direct vision, free the upper end of the tibia, cut the tibia with a wire saw at least 2 to 3 cm away from the tumor, and remove the upper end of the tibia and the tumor.

3. Transplantation: Cut off 2~3cm of the distal lateral side of the upper end of the tibia stored in the bone bank and the medial side of the main tibia to make a relatively matching step. First, use steel wire to pass the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments retained at the femoral end through the tunnel on the rough surface of the tibial intercondylar bone and fix them. Align the transplanted bone end with the step on the main bone, and use a steel plate to firmly fix the bone graft to the main bone. Suture the lateral ligament to the fibula head, make the bone rough at the attachment point of the medial collateral ligament of the tibia and the patellar ligament, and pre-drill bone holes, and use silk thread to suture the medial collateral ligament and patellar ligament to the corresponding attachment points.

4. Close the wound, place a film for drainage, and suture the wound layer by layer.

This is all we have to say about the surgical treatment methods for osteosarcoma. When osteosarcoma occurs, our patients need to undergo timely surgical treatment to effectively alleviate the disease and save the patient's life. Although chondrosarcoma is not very common, we should also understand the treatment methods of chondrosarcoma in our lives.
