Early treatment methods for osteosarcoma

Early treatment methods for osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma mostly occurs in adolescents and children under the age of 20, and is more common in children. The early symptom is only pain at the site of the tumor. If it is not treated early, it will become more and more serious, and may even lead to amputation or death. Osteosarcoma is also a disease with a high mortality rate among adolescents or children. Therefore, early detection and early treatment can improve the survival rate of osteosarcoma. So what are the early treatment methods for osteosarcoma?

1. Radiotherapy. In the past, people often believed that osteosarcoma was not sensitive to radiotherapy, which means that the treatment effect was not ideal. Therefore, radiotherapy was rarely used as a means of treating osteosarcoma. However, it is now generally believed clinically that radiotherapy is very effective in treating osteosarcoma, so it is a good treatment method worthy of patients' choice.

2. Chemotherapy. In clinical practice, many tumor diseases are often treated with chemotherapy. The treatment of osteosarcoma is no exception. Chemotherapy can also be used to treat osteosarcoma, but in terms of therapeutic effect, this method still needs further investigation and research, because there is no mature chemotherapy regimen for the treatment of osteosarcoma.

Osteosarcoma should be treated with a comprehensive treatment with surgery as the main approach, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc. As long as it is diagnosed early, carefully classified before surgery, and standardized treatment of osteosarcoma is carried out at the same time, including chemotherapy before surgery, surgery and regular chemotherapy after surgery, and combined with comprehensive treatment methods such as immunotherapy and biological therapy, the prognosis of osteosarcoma patients can be significantly improved.

Early-stage osteosarcoma should be treated surgically whenever possible. Surgery must be radical resection to avoid local recurrence. Currently, limb salvage has become the main surgical procedure for osteosarcoma, but when limb salvage is not suitable or unconditional, amputation should be performed decisively. Chemotherapy is not necessary before surgery, but standardized chemotherapy must be performed after surgery.

Once osteosarcoma is discovered, it should be treated promptly, otherwise there may be amputation or life-threatening danger. I hope my answer is helpful to you and I wish you a speedy recovery.
