A tumor on the neck

The lymphatic system is distributed in the neck area. Many people with enlarged thyroid glands suffer from iodine deficiency in their bodies. They will show symptoms such as thicker neck and a particularly prominent part of the neck. Therefore, if you find a tumor growing on your neck, it is very likely a thyroid tumor caused by insufficient iodine in the body. So what causes a tumor to grow on the neck?

Thyroid tumors can be benign or malignant. The processing methods are also different, mainly as follows:

1. Benign thyroid tumors mostly refer to thyroid adenoma.

① Thyroid adenoma may cause hyperthyroidism and malignant transformation, so the affected thyroid lobe and part of the adenoma should be removed at an early stage.

② The resected specimen must be immediately subjected to frozen section examination to determine whether there is any malignant transformation.

2. For malignant thyroid tumors, except for anaplastic carcinoma, surgery is the basic treatment method for all types of thyroid tumors, and it is assisted by the use of radionuclide endocrine and external radiation therapy.

①Surgical treatment. Surgery is one of the important means of treating thyroid cancer. The methods vary depending on the pathological type and invasion range of the tumor. It mainly includes the removal of the thyroid gland itself and the dissection of the neck lymph nodes.

②Radionuclide therapy. Thyroid tissue and differentiated thyroid cancer cells have the ability to absorb iodine-131. The biological effect of the ionizing radiation of beta rays emitted by iodine-131 can be used to destroy residual thyroid tissue and cancer cells, thereby achieving a therapeutic effect.

③Endocrine therapy. Patients who undergo subtotal or total thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer should take thyroxine tablets or levothyroxine for life to prevent hypothyroidism and suppress TSH.

④External radiation therapy. Mainly used for anaplastic thyroid cancer.

Tumors can also occur in other parts of the body, including the surface of the body and other organs. The nature of the tumor can also vary, including benign and malignant, but the specific nature cannot be determined from the situation described so far. If the tumor is relatively large or grows rapidly, a timely pathological examination of the tissue after surgical removal should be performed to determine the specific type. If it is benign, regular follow-up examinations can be performed.

It may be a thyroid adenoma, thyroid enlargement, or thyroid nodule. It is recommended to see a general surgeon or thyroid specialist, do a neck ultrasound, and test thyroid function. It may be swollen lymph nodes in the neck. Go to the hospital for an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis and take anti-inflammatory treatment.

Take amoxicillin plus metronidazole orally, three times a day, two pills each time, for seven to ten days, and observe whether the swelling decreases or disappears. Go to the hospital for examination if necessary.

Second, eat more vegetables and fruits, drink plenty of water, avoid spicy and irritating foods, avoid smoking and drinking, stay up late less, exercise more, and improve your own resistance.
