Who is bladder pacemaker suitable for

Due to many reasons in life, people will suffer from many different diseases. However, most people have heard of cardiac pacemakers, but often feel particularly unfamiliar with bladder pacemakers. Some patients with bladder diseases absolutely need to use a bladder pacemaker. This is very important for some patients with urination disorders. Bladder pacemakers are currently a more advanced treatment method.

Who is a bladder pacemaker suitable for?

1. Patients with dysuria or urinary retention who have failed conservative treatment but do not include prostatic hyperplasia;

2. Patients with severe frequent urination and urgency incontinence, such as wetting pants during rope skipping, who cannot be controlled by medication and cannot undergo surgery; 3. Patients with severe chronic pelvic floor pain who cannot urinate on their own and for whom conservative treatment is ineffective;

3. Patients with long-term chronic constipation or fecal incontinence that is not relieved by medication. A bladder pacemaker can significantly improve a patient's quality of life, allowing the patient to resume normal daily activities such as walking, sleeping through the night, traveling, and participating in social activities.

What is a bladder pacemaker?

Bladder pacemaker is the most advanced treatment for urination disorders in the world. It is the common name for sacral nerve electrical stimulation therapy, which is similar to a cardiac pacemaker. It is an electrical regulation therapy that is implanted in the body for long-term use. It affects the sacral nerves through weak electrical pulses and regulates the bladder, sphincter and pelvic floor nerve reflexes. In short, it allows the nerves controlling the bladder and urination to accurately send "on" and "off" signals to the brain. Bladder pacemakers can effectively control the symptoms of urination disorders. Patients with frequent urination have fewer urinations, urination pain is relieved, urine leakage is reduced or eliminated, and the number of catheterizations is also reduced or no catheterization is required. Improvement of these symptoms allows patients to resume daily activities and avoid more invasive surgery such as bladder enlargement or urinary diversion.

Indications for bladder pacemaker

1. The urine storage function is normal, but there is urinary frequency/urgency (the desire to urinate, frequent urination, and small amounts of urination, even once every fifteen minutes), or urge incontinence (accompanied by a sudden and violent urge to urinate, with involuntary leakage of urine).

2. Dysuria: dysuria and urine retention caused by bladder weakness or non-bladder outlet obstruction (the bladder stores too much urine and leaks out; such patients have no urge to urinate when the bladder is swollen. Although they have frequent urination, they do not feel the urge to urinate. Urine leakage occurs continuously. Urine often leaks a small amount during the day.)

3. Dysuria and fecal incontinence caused by chronic pelvic pain (such as interstitial cystitis, etc.).

4. When the current treatment method is intolerable to the patient or the side effects of the drug reduce the therapeutic effect.
