Dietary considerations for patients with pituitary tumors after surgery

Dietary considerations for patients with pituitary tumors after surgery

Pituitary tumors seriously endanger the health of patients and bring misfortune to many families. Therefore, everyone should pay attention to dietary hygiene, actively exercise, and avoid the occurrence of diseases. Because diseases like pituitary tumors are not easy to cure once they are contracted, and surgical treatment is generally used clinically. So, what should patients with pituitary tumors pay attention to in their diet after surgery?

How long the rest time is should be determined by the size of the surgery, the patient's reaction to the surgery, whether the surgery went smoothly, whether there are complications, and the patient's physical condition. Generally speaking, you can return to work after resting for 1-2 months after being discharged from the hospital. When you first start working, it is difficult to adapt to the physical and mental work. You can work half-time or start to participate in lighter work. After your physical condition is fully recovered, you can participate in heavy work. You must not take a long-term rest for a minor illness or treat a "disease" when you are not sick. This is not good for your recovery.

There are also some dietary therapy plans for the treatment of pituitary tumors. For example, you should pay attention to eating more foods rich in vitamin A, carotene and vitamin B2. At the same time, choose foods high in phospholipids to improve brain health, such as egg yolks, fish, shrimp, walnuts, peanuts, etc.; you should also consciously choose more eggs, animal liver, kidneys, carrots, spinach, millet, cabbage, tomatoes, day lily, water spinach, wolfberry, etc.

1. Pay attention to nutritional supplementation before surgery. It is advisable to eat high-protein, high-calorie, high-vitamin, easily digestible food, such as soy products, lean meat, fish, green vegetables, etc.

2. To keep bowel movements smooth, please eat more foods rich in crude fiber, such as celery, sesame, bananas, etc.

3. Do not eat on the day of surgery. If there is no complication such as gastrointestinal bleeding or swallowing disorder, you can eat liquid food.

4. After the operation, it is advisable to eat small meals frequently, avoid eating with large mouthfuls and chewing hard, and keep the oral cavity clean before and after meals.

5. If diabetes insipidus occurs after surgery, it is advisable to eat a light diet, pay attention to water replenishment, and monitor electrolytes to prevent water and electrolyte imbalance.

6. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, spicy, cold and other irritating foods and stimulating drinks such as coffee and strong tea.

7. Patients with postoperative swallowing dysfunction should be fed liquid diet through nasogastric tube.

8. Eat less spicy and greasy food, and avoid eating catfish.

9. Postoperative diet should be nutritious, light and easy to digest.

Warm reminder: For pituitary tumor treatment, stay away from three white sugars, salt, lard, black sesame, mushrooms, and black rice. From the nutritional value point of view, four-legged pigs, cattle, and sheep are not as good as two-legged chickens and ducks, two legs are not as good as one-legged mushrooms, and one leg is not as good as fish without legs. Eating kelp, river fish, and fish oil regularly can reduce the rate of cell death.
