Can small cell lung cancer be cured?

After suffering from small cell lung cancer, you will cough at first, but many people think it is pneumonia. After a period of treatment without improvement, they find out it is lung cancer. Many people around me have been delayed in this way. So, can small cell lung cancer be cured? Let us learn about it together.

First of all, the chances of curing small cell lung cancer are also very high. We must persist in the treatment and it will be effective. Small cell cancer accounts for about 20% of the incidence of lung cancer. The age of onset is relatively young, and it is more common in men around 40 years old with a history of smoking. The frontal morphology of the cells is similar to that of small lymphocytes. It is prone to occur in larger bronchi closer to the hilum of the lung, and is more common in central lung cancer. Small cell cancer cells contain neuroendocrine granules.

Secondly, according to the degree of differentiation, low-differentiated lung cancer, especially small cell carcinoma, is particularly sensitive to chemotherapy, followed by squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Chemotherapy can be used alone for patients with advanced lung cancer to relieve symptoms, or combined with surgery and radiotherapy to improve the cure rate of the disease.

Finally, the correct order of administration can increase the efficacy of drugs, otherwise it will aggravate their toxic side effects. When paclitaxel + DDP, or gemcitabine is used in combination with DDP, first gemcitabine and then cisplatin can enhance the efficacy. If paclitaxel is used after DDP, bone marrow suppression can be aggravated. Paclitaxel + ADM doxorubicin.

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) accounts for 20 to 25 percent of all lung cancers. Small cell lung cancer is significantly different from non-small cell lung cancer in terms of tissue origin, biological characteristics, response to treatment and prognosis. In terms of pathological histology, small cell lung cancer is derived from the malignant transformation of cells in the basal layer of the bronchial mucosa, and the tumor cells have a more obvious neuroendocrine differentiation tendency. Therefore, the incidence of tumor-associated syndrome is higher in clinical practice, and the clinical course and natural course of small cell lung cancer are significantly faster than non-small cell lung cancer. Many patients experience distant metastasis in the early stages of the disease.

When small cell lung cancer is diagnosed, 70 to 90 percent of patients have lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis, the most common of which is mediastinal lymph node metastasis, followed by liver, bone, brain, etc. Therefore, small cell lung cancer is currently considered a systemic disease. Most patients develop symptoms and disease quickly and die from tumor progression in a short period of time. The average median survival time for untreated patients is 12 to 15 weeks, and the average median survival time for advanced patients is 6 to 9 weeks. The tumor cells of small cell lung cancer are less differentiated and have a shorter doubling time, so they are very sensitive to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In terms of treatment, chemotherapy combined with local radiotherapy is the main treatment.

Precautions: Small cell lung cancer is a relatively malignant type of lung cancer. This disease is caused by the patient inhaling a large amount of bad air. Smokers are most likely to suffer from this disease. It is also easy to get this disease if you inhale secondhand smoke. To prevent this disease, it is best to quit smoking.
