What are the causes of fibroids

What are the causes of fibroids

Nowadays, many patients suffer from diseases but do not know what causes them, including patients with fibroids. They only know that they feel uncomfortable and find out that they have fibroids, but they do not know why they have this disease. Now let's talk about the causes of fibroids.

To know the cause of fibroids, we must first know what fibroids are?

Fibromas are composed of well-differentiated subcutaneous connective tissue. They are common in adults aged 40-50 years old. The tumor grows slowly. When the tumor develops to a certain extent, it generally stops growing. It is a benign tumor composed of well-differentiated subcutaneous connective tissue. It rarely becomes malignant. The treatment is mainly surgical resection. It is more common in the subcutaneous and grows slowly. It is generally small, with clear edges, smooth surface, hard texture, and can be pushed. If mixed with other components, it becomes fibromyoma, fibroadenoma, fibrolipoma, etc. According to the age and location of onset, it mainly includes juvenile fibromatosis, cervical fibromatosis, infantile fibromatosis, infantile myofibromatosis, lipofibromatosis, etc. The age of onset is mostly between 30 and 50 years old, and it is also not uncommon in children and adolescents. Tumors can occur in large muscles in any part of the body, with the rectus abdominis of the abdominal wall and the aponeurosis of the adjacent muscles being the most common, and they are more common during pregnancy and late pregnancy. Those outside the abdominal wall are more common in men, and they are more common in the scapula, thigh and buttocks.

There are several types of fibroids:

a. Xanthofibroma: It is common in the dermis or subcutaneous tissue of the trunk and upper arm. It often arises from small papules after trauma or itching. The lumps are hard with unclear edges. Because of internal bleeding, they contain hemosiderin and are dark brown. If the tumor is larger than 1 cm and grows rapidly, it should be suspected to be a fibrosarcoma and requires complete surgical removal.

b. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans: located in the dermis, protruding from the body surface, with smooth surface skin, shaped like keloid, prone to occur on the trunk, low-grade malignancy, with pseudocapsule, prone to recurrence after resection, multiple recurrences increase the malignancy, and can metastasize through the blood. The tumor focus containing enough normal skin and deep adjacent fascia should be removed as soon as possible.

c. Band-like fibroma: It is caused by the reparative hyperplasia of the abdominal wall muscles after trauma or birth injury. It has no obvious capsule and is suitable for surgical removal.

The cause and pathogenesis of fibroids are not yet clear, but fibroids should be related to an imbalance in estrogen levels. If the estrogen level is relatively or absolutely elevated, excessive stimulation of estrogen levels can lead to abnormal proliferation of epithelial and interstitial components to form tumors. If fibroids are not treated in time, a small proportion of them will deteriorate. Therefore, you must actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment.
