Is chemotherapy effective for liver cancer? It has a certain effect

Cancer patients actually have different degrees of symptoms in the early stage. If they are treated in time, the condition will not be too serious. Once the treatment is delayed, the cancer patient will have no hope of survival. For example, liver cancer, if the disease is discovered early, can be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and later drug treatment, so the patient's hope of survival is still relatively large.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that patients with malignant tumors often have evil heat, blood stasis and toxicity accumulated in their bodies, especially in the middle and late stages, which are all symptoms of evil heat, blood stasis and toxicity. The treatment should be based on clearing away heat and detoxifying. At the same time, according to the different parts and manifestations of toxic heat accumulation, heat-clearing and detoxifying drugs that act on different parts should be selected. So is chemotherapy for liver cancer effective?

There are three major effects of using Chinese medicine after liver cancer surgery or during chemotherapy:

(1) It is beneficial for the surgery to preserve more normal liver and facilitate postoperative recovery.

(2) It can reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, improve liver function, enhance immune function, have anti-cancer effects, and have strong liver-protecting and choleretic effects.

(3) It increases the possibility of liver cancer becoming curable instead of incurable.

Patients with advanced liver cancer often have liver cirrhosis and liver damage. The toxic side effects of chemotherapy can further damage liver function. Chemotherapy is even more inappropriate in cases of active hepatitis, jaundice, ascites, nausea, vomiting, anemia, etc. According to current statistics, more than 92% of reports on clinical treatment of advanced liver cancer are mainly traditional Chinese medicine or a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. Therefore, traditional Chinese medicine has become the main method for treating advanced liver cancer.

For patients with advanced liver cancer, most of them have liver cirrhosis or may have liver metastasis in the early stage. Only 5% to 10% of liver cancer patients can be treated with surgery. Even for early liver cancer or small liver cancer, surgical resection cannot solve the problem of clearing recurrent lesions or multi-center lesions in the liver. Therefore, most patients rely on drug treatment.
