What is antibody positive

What is antibody positive

Antibody positivity mainly refers to the fact that after the hepatitis B virus invades, the human body will produce an immune response. This immune response can eliminate the virus, thereby achieving a good protective effect on human health. Protective antibodies will be formed on the surface. With this protective antibody, the human body will not be harmed by the hepatitis B virus. If it is positive, it generally means that the hepatitis B vaccination is successful.

What is antibody positive?

When the hepatitis B virus invades the human body, it stimulates the human immune system to produce an immune response. The effector B cells (plasma cells) differentiated from the B lymphocytes in the human immune system secrete a specific immunoglobulin G, which is the surface antibody. It can specifically bind to the surface antigen and then work together with other immune functions of the human body to eliminate the virus and protect the body from being infected by the hepatitis B virus. Therefore, the surface antibody is called a protective antibody.

The presence of surface antibodies proves that a person has developed immunity. People can produce hepatitis B surface antibodies after natural infection or injection of hepatitis B vaccine; however, not all people can produce surface antibodies.

Positive meaning

1. Single anti-HBs positivity (1) is a sign of successful hepatitis B vaccination; (2) Single low-titer anti-HBs positivity is sometimes a non-specific reaction.

2. When the body is naturally infected (including latent infection and overt infection) with hepatitis B virus (HBV) and is positive for both anti-HBc and anti-HBe, an immune response occurs, the hepatitis B virus is cleared, and the body acquires specific immunity against the re-invasion of the hepatitis B virus;

3. It is very rare for the test result to be positive at the same time as HBsAg, which may be related to the following factors: (1) infection with different HBV subtypes; (2) infection with HBV with S gene mutation; (3) low immune function, inability of anti-HBs to eliminate HBsAg; (4) being in the stage of antigen-antibody dynamic equilibrium.
