What are the symptoms of mid-to-late stage liver cancer? 3 clinical symptoms of mid-to-late stage liver cancer

Cancer may not have obvious symptoms in the early stages, but they can be detected if you are careful. If cancer develops to the late stage, it will pose a great threat to the patient's health. In the late stage of liver cancer, the symptoms are obvious and painful.

1. Pain in the liver area

Liver pain is a very characteristic pain in the liver area. This pain is equivalent to the location of the tumor. If the pain occurs in this location, the patient will feel persistent distending pain or even dull pain. Liver pain is caused by the rapid growth of the tumor and the traction of the liver capsule.

2. Symptoms of peritonitis

If the lesion invades the diaphragm, the pain may involve the right shoulder. If the cancerous nodule ruptures, it may suddenly cause severe pain and symptoms and signs of peritonitis. If the amount of bleeding is too large, it will cause syncope and shock. About 90% of patients with liver enlargement have an enlarged liver, which is progressive and hard in texture. It is uneven and has nodules or lumps of varying sizes. The edges are blunt and irregular. Generally, there are different degrees of tenderness. If the tumor is located on the diaphragmatic surface, the main manifestation is that the diaphragm is elevated and the lower edge of the liver may not be enlarged. Because the arteries of liver cancer are rich and tortuous, the huge tumor compresses the hepatic artery or abdominal aorta, and the inner diameter of the artery suddenly narrows. Sometimes a tube murmur of blowing blood can be heard on the abdominal wall close to the tumor.

3. Jaundice

Jaundice usually occurs in the late stage and can be caused by liver cell damage, which is caused by the compression or invasion of the bile duct near the liver port by the cancer mass, or the detachment of cancer tissue and blood clots causing bile duct obstruction. Patients with liver cancer with signs of cirrhosis and portal hypertension may have symptoms such as splenomegaly, ascites, and the formation of venous collateral circulation.
