What are the symptoms before death of advanced lung cancer? There are 3 symptoms before death of advanced lung cancer

Lung cancer is a type of cancer with a high morbidity and mortality rate. It is one of the most malignant tumors that poses the greatest threat to human health and life. Lung cancer can cause many symptoms in the human body. The symptoms in the early, middle and late stages are different. The symptoms before death in the late stage are more severe, causing great pain to the patients.

For lung cancer, the incidence and mortality rates among men rank first, while those among women rank second. Long-term and heavy smoking is the main cause of lung cancer. The younger the age at which one starts smoking, the higher the chance of developing lung cancer. So what are the symptoms before death from advanced lung cancer?

1 There are many symptoms before death from advanced lung cancer. Hoarseness is a common symptom of advanced lung cancer. The patient's recurrent laryngeal nerve, which controls the left side of the voice function, goes down from the neck to the chest, then bypasses the large blood vessels of the heart and returns upward to the throat, and then controls the left side of the voice organ. Therefore, the tumor of advanced patients will invade the left side of the mediastinum, causing compression of the recurrent laryngeal nerve and hoarseness, but there is no sore throat and other symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection.

2 Not only that, patients with advanced lung cancer will also experience symptoms of pain before death. This is because the cancer invades the patient's pleura and chest wall, causing persistent and severe chest pain. This pain will gradually worsen and become unbearable, persisting day and night, and even medication will not work. Cancer cells will also invade the pleura, causing pleural effusion, which is often bloody, with a large amount of fluid, causing the patient to be short of breath, and cachexia will also occur.

3 Patients with advanced lung cancer will have edema of the face and neck before they die. There is a superior vena cava on the right side of the mediastinum, which transports venous blood from the upper limbs and head and neck back to the heart. If the tumor invades the right side of the mediastinum and compresses the superior vena cava, the jugular vein will become distended due to poor blood return, so this symptom will appear. In addition, because the cancer tumor invades and compresses the organs and tissues located at the upper opening of the thorax, the patient will experience symptoms such as distended upper limb veins, arm pain, and pupil constriction.

These are the symptoms before death from advanced lung cancer, so patients with lung cancer should seek treatment as early as possible. The cure rate is very low in the late stages. The patient's family members should also stay with the patient more after the symptoms before death appear, chat with the patient more, and enlighten the patient, so that the patient will not suffer so much.
