Sexual life is very important in the life of a couple. It is necessary for normal people to have sexual life, and it is also an important guarantee for the relationship between couples. However, if we suffer from diseases, we have to consider whether we can still have normal sexual life. If not, what kind of harm will it cause to our bodies? This is a question we are concerned about. Let's take a look at whether we can have sexual life in the late stage of liver cancer?

Can I have sex in the late stage of liver cancer?

When liver cancer patients develop to the late stage, their bodies are already very weak. Generally speaking, sexual intercourse is not recommended because sexual intercourse is a strenuous exercise, which is not good for the patient's condition and may cause the condition to worsen. For liver cancer patients, the following care should be done:

1. Diet care:

Liver cancer patients must have a reasonable diet in their lives. They need to eat on time and in moderation. They should not be hungry for a long time, nor should they overeat. For liver cancer patients, the diet should be light and easy to digest. They should not eat high-fat foods, spicy foods, or condiments. They should control protein intake to avoid hepatic encephalopathy and pay attention to nutritional balance. In addition, they should eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.

2. Psychological care:

After suffering from liver cancer, patients should maintain an optimistic mentality, which is of great help to the recovery of the disease. Liver cancer patients will inevitably have complex emotions such as pessimism, panic, and irritability. At this time, family members need to communicate more with patients and encourage them to express their feelings. Encourage patients to participate in some daily activities to eliminate various negative emotions of patients. Liver cancer care should help patients build confidence in overcoming the disease.

3. Get enough rest:

Liver cancer patients have relatively poor physical functions, especially after some treatments, and need adequate rest. Therefore, the family members of patients should pay attention to ensure that patients get enough rest and sleep, avoid excessive activities, provide patients with a quiet and comfortable environment, ensure that the house is well ventilated and sunny, keep the bed sheets clean, and bedridden patients need to turn over regularly.

What are the symptoms of advanced liver cancer?

1. Jaundice

It can be caused by liver cell damage, or by compression or invasion of the bile duct near the liver portal by cancerous masses, or by bile duct obstruction caused by the detachment of cancerous tissue and blood clots.

2. Hepatomegaly

More than 90% of liver cancer patients have enlarged livers, which are progressively enlarged, hard, uneven, with nodules or lumps of varying sizes, blunt and irregular edges, and often with varying degrees of tenderness. If the tumor is located on the diaphragmatic surface, the main manifestation is that the diaphragm is elevated and the lower edge of the liver may not be enlarged. Because the arteries of liver cancer are rich and tortuous, or because the huge tumor compresses the hepatic artery or abdominal aorta, the inner diameter of the artery suddenly narrows, and sometimes a blowing-like vascular murmur can be heard on the abdominal wall close to the tumor.

3. Systemic manifestations of malignant tumors

Patients with liver cancer experience progressive weight loss, fever, loss of appetite, fatigue, malnutrition and cachexia. A small number of patients with liver disease may have special systemic manifestations, called paraneoplastic syndrome, with hypoglycemia and polycythemia being the most common, and other rare symptoms include hypercalcemia, hyperlipidemia, carcinoid, etc.

4. Signs of cirrhosis

Patients with liver cancer and portal hypertension associated with cirrhosis may have symptoms such as splenomegaly, ascites, and the formation of venous collateral circulation. The ascites increases rapidly and is generally transudate. Bloody ascites is often caused by cancer invading the liver capsule or rupturing into the abdominal cavity, and occasionally by peritoneal metastasis.
