Common knowledge about prostate cancer What are the causes of prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is a type of malignant tumor. Patients with this disease are generally older men. The incidence rate is relatively high in European and American countries, but not too high in my country. Therefore, we do not need to be too anxious. However, we should not relax our vigilance because the incidence rate of prostate cancer is increasing year by year.

Prostate infection: Danish scholars have analyzed the prostate cancer mortality curve and gonorrhea incidence curve over a 30-year period and found that the two are very similar. American scholars have also found a clear link between prostate cancer and gonorrhea in a retrospective study. Some experiments have suggested that injecting tissue culture fluid from the prostate glands of rats infected with certain viruses into rats of the same species can cause the infected cells to develop into tumors. This suggests that the cause of prostate cancer is related to viral infection, sexually transmitted diseases and chronic prostate infection.

The triggering factors in daily life and work include chemical carcinogens. Chemical substances such as cadmium and benzene in special types of work or from environmental pollution have carcinogenic effects; chemical substances such as tar inhaled by smokers can cause cancer. Data show that the death rate of prostate cancer among regular smokers is 14 times higher than that of non-smokers. In addition, high-fat diet and obesity may also be the triggering factors of prostate cancer. At present, although the medical community has not yet fully understood the cause of prostate cancer, it is still possible to avoid the above-mentioned triggering factors in daily life, and every middle-aged and elderly person should consciously pay attention to it.

Prostate cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the male prostate tissue. It is the result of abnormal and disordered growth of prostate acinar cells. The incidence of prostate cancer has obvious geographical and racial differences. In developed countries and regions such as Europe and the United States, it is the most common malignant tumor in men, and its mortality rate ranks second among all cancers. In Asia, its incidence is lower than that in Western countries, but it has been rising rapidly in recent years. In my country, in 2007, the incidence of prostate cancer in Shanghai jumped from the third place to the first place among malignant tumors of the urogenital system, and quickly rose from the original ninth place to the fifth place in the ranking of the top ten male tumors. It is predicted that in 10 years, the incidence of prostate cancer in Shanghai will be promoted to the top three among male malignant tumors.

Early detection of prostate cancer requires universal prostate screening. The most commonly recognized method of prostate cancer screening is a combination of digital rectal examination of the prostate and serum pSA testing, both of which play an important role in screening. The vast majority of prostate cancers are discovered by abnormal pSA, accounting for 80%, while only 20% of them are found to have nodular abnormalities during digital rectal examination. The best frequency of prostate cancer screening is once a year. If the pSA level is found to be progressively elevated and/or the digital rectal examination is abnormal during the annual screening, further examination is required.

Experts say: The causes of prostate cancer are not very clear at present, but it is closely related to race, genetics, living environment, endocrine system and other factors. Therefore, we hope that male friends will pay more attention to their physical condition in daily life to avoid getting sick without knowing it.
