Is it okay to not have surgery for thyroid cancer?

Whether thyroid cancer can be treated without surgery depends on factors such as the stage of thyroid cancer and the pathological type. If it is early-stage thyroid cancer and the pathological type is papillary cancer, surgery is usually not necessary, but if it is mid- to late-stage thyroid cancer or the pathological type is undifferentiated cancer, surgery is generally not necessary.

1. Early thyroid cancer: For early thyroid cancer, such as stage I and stage II thyroid cancer, the tumor is small and there is no lymph node metastasis or distant organ metastasis. At this time, surgery can be avoided and treatment can be carried out by taking oral levothyroxine sodium tablets and other drugs according to the doctor's advice;

2. Papillary carcinoma: Papillary carcinoma is a pathological type of thyroid cancer with a low degree of malignancy and a good prognosis. If the patient is in the early stage and there is no lymph node metastasis or distant organ metastasis, surgery can be avoided and treatment can be carried out by taking oral levothyroxine sodium tablets and other drugs as prescribed by the doctor;

3. Other situations: For patients with advanced thyroid cancer and anaplastic cancer, due to the serious condition, lymph node metastasis or distant organ metastasis has occurred. At this time, surgery is required for treatment. If surgery is not performed in time, the condition may worsen and may even be life-threatening.

Patients are advised to maintain good living habits in their daily lives, avoid overwork, stay up late and other bad behaviors. At the same time, they should also pay attention to maintaining a good attitude and try to eat light and easily digestible foods.
