What medicine can I take to treat thyroid cancer without surgery

Thyroid cancer patients are not recommended to take medicine without surgery. Surgery, radionuclide therapy, endocrine and targeted therapy should be performed according to the patient's specific situation. If the patient does not meet the surgical indications and the thyroid nodule ultrasound indicates a malignant tendency during the examination, surgical treatment is required in a timely manner.

1. Surgical treatment: Patients who do not need surgery for thyroid cancer need to make a clear diagnosis based on the pathological results and then determine the treatment plan. If the pathological results indicate thyroid cancer, it means that the tumor is relatively large or has metastasized to the lymph nodes or distant metastases. At this time, surgical treatment alone is not recommended. Instead, patients are recommended to undergo radionuclide therapy, endocrine and targeted therapy, etc. to prolong survival;

2. Radionuclide therapy: Thyroid remnants or lymph node metastasis may occur after surgery. In this case, radionuclide therapy can be used to remove the residual thyroid tissue and lymph nodes;

3. Endocrine and targeted therapy: If the thyroid tissue is removed after surgery, endocrine and targeted therapy can be used as auxiliary therapy because the tumor has the function of iodine uptake. Endocrine therapy can inhibit tumor growth, and targeted therapy can prevent tumor recurrence and metastasis by repairing residual thyroid tissue and cancer cells.

Patients can also use chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other methods for adjuvant treatment after surgery to enhance the sensitivity of patients to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Thyroid cancer patients who do not undergo surgery should undergo regular follow-up examinations to closely observe changes in thyroid function and thyroid morphology, and whether there are abnormal enlargement of thyroid nodules. If the above situation occurs, it should be handled in a timely manner.
