What to do if the wound of thyroid cancer is hard and swollen

The hard swelling of the incision of thyroid cancer patients may be caused by local scar hyperplasia, infection, hematoma, etc. It is recommended that patients seek medical treatment in time and receive targeted treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

1. Local scar hyperplasia: After thyroid cancer surgery, due to excessive proliferation of fibrous connective tissue during wound healing, local scar hyperplasia may occur, causing symptoms of hard swelling at the incision. At this time, special treatment is usually not required and it will generally recover gradually over time;

2. Infection: If the wound is not properly cared for after surgery, it may be infected by bacteria, which may cause the wound to become hard and swollen, and may also be accompanied by symptoms such as pain and redness. You need to take antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor, such as amoxicillin capsules, cefixime tablets, etc.

3. Hematoma: If there is heavy bleeding or obvious exudate after the operation, it may cause local hematoma and hard swelling of the incision. You can apply pressure bandage to the local area to promote the absorption of the hematoma. If an abscess has formed, it needs to be treated by incision and drainage surgery;

4. Other situations: If the patient is in a state of anxiety or emotional tension for a long time after thyroid cancer surgery, it may lead to endocrine disorders, affect the body's metabolic function, and cause incision swelling. At this time, psychological counseling can be used to improve it, and you should also pay attention to relaxing your mood.

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor disease. Its symptoms are not particularly obvious in the early stages of the disease, so it needs to be treated promptly after diagnosis.
