How often should cervical cancer screening be done

Cervical cancer screening is generally recommended to start at the age of 21, and cervical cytology, also known as Pap smear, should be performed every three years. After the age of 30, you can choose to have a cervical cytology test combined with HPV testing every five years, or continue to have a separate cervical cytology test every three years. This frequency is based on the general risk situation, and the specific screening frequency should be determined based on personal health status and doctor's advice.

Cervical cancer screening is very important because cervical cancer usually has no obvious symptoms in the early stages. Regular screening can help detect and treat cervical cancer early, effectively reducing the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer. For people at high risk of cervical cancer, such as those with a family history, multiple sexual partners, a history of smoking, or those infected with high-risk HPV viruses, more frequent screening may be required.

There are two main screening methods: cervical cytology and HPV testing. Cervical cytology is to collect cell samples from the surface of the cervix to observe whether the cells have abnormal changes. HPV testing is to detect whether there is HPV virus in the cervical sample, especially high-risk HPV virus, because high-risk HPV virus is one of the main causes of cervical cancer.

Regular cervical cancer screening is one of the important measures to protect women's health. If the screening results show abnormalities, the doctor may recommend further examination or treatment, such as colposcopy, cervical biopsy, etc. In terms of drug treatment, you must follow the doctor's instructions to use drugs, such as cisplatin injection, paclitaxel injection, etc. Do not take drugs without authorization to avoid affecting the treatment effect or causing adverse reactions.
