Commonly used drugs for nasopharyngeal carcinoma analgesia

Commonly used drugs for nasopharyngeal carcinoma analgesia

Commonly used drugs for nasopharyngeal carcinoma analgesia include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, weak opioids and strong opioids, which are gradually selected and used according to the degree of pain and the patient's specific situation.

For mild to moderate pain, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen and diclofenac, are usually the first choice. This type of drug relieves pain by inhibiting inflammation and has fewer side effects, making it suitable for most patients. For moderate or above pain or when nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are ineffective, weak opioids such as tramadol or codeine can be used. These drugs effectively relieve pain by directly acting on the central nervous system, but be aware of possible adverse reactions such as dizziness and nausea. When patients experience severe pain, strong opioids such as morphine, oxycodone, or fentanyl may be a necessary choice to quickly relieve severe pain, but the dosage must be strictly controlled under the guidance of a doctor to avoid the risk of addiction.

When using painkillers, you should pay attention to the individual adjustment of the drugs and avoid increasing or decreasing the dosage on your own. Pain relief treatment does not rely solely on drugs. It can also be combined with auxiliary measures such as physical therapy and psychological counseling to help patients better relieve pain. Long-term use of painkillers requires regular follow-up to monitor for drug dependence or side effects. If the pain continues to worsen or the drug is ineffective, you should communicate with your doctor in time to adjust the treatment plan.
