It is clear that Chinese people’s awareness of the importance of sleep is far from enough. Sleep, like air, sunlight and water, is an essential "nutrient" for the human body. Incorrect sleeping habits will greatly reduce the quality of sleep and threaten our health.
1. The pillow is too high From a physiological point of view, the ideal pillow size is 8 to 12 cm. If the pillow is too low, it may cause a stiff neck or excessive blood flowing into the brain, causing a swollen head and swollen eyelids the next day. If the pillow is too high, it may affect the smooth flow of the respiratory tract and cause snoring. Moreover, a high pillow for a long time may cause neck discomfort or hunchback. 2. Sleeping with your hands as pillow Putting your hands under your head when sleeping will not only affect blood circulation and cause numbness and pain in the upper limbs, but it will also easily increase the intra-abdominal pressure, and over time it will cause "reflux esophagitis." Therefore, it is not advisable to use your hands as a pillow when sleeping. 3. Cover your head with a quilt Being masked can easily cause breathing difficulties; at the same time, inhaling the carbon dioxide exhaled by yourself is extremely harmful to your health. This is especially unsuitable for infants and young children, otherwise there is a risk of suffocation. 4. Mouth breathing Sleeping with your mouth closed at night is the best way to maintain your vitality. Breathing with your mouth open will not only inhale dust, but also easily irritate the trachea, lungs and ribs with cold air. It is best to breathe through your nose. The nose hair can block some dust, and the nasal cavity can warm the inhaled cold air, which is good for your health. 5. Vigorous exercise Vigorous activity before going to bed will cause the nerve cells in the brain that control muscle activity to become extremely excited. This excitement will not calm down in a short period of time, so people will not be able to fall asleep quickly. Therefore, you should try to keep your body calm before going to bed, but you may also do some light activities, such as taking a walk. 6. Sleep facing the wind The human body's ability to adapt to environmental changes is reduced during sleep, making it more susceptible to catching cold and getting sick. The ancients believed that wind is the root of all diseases and that it can change frequently. Those who are good at regulating themselves should avoid wind and sleep in the dew even in the hottest summer. Therefore, the sleeping place should be away from drafts, and the bed should be a certain distance away from windows and doors. 7. Sleeping while sitting Some people sit on the sofa after a meal, turn on the TV and make a pot of tea, which is very comfortable. Maybe you are too tired from work and fall asleep while watching TV, which leads to the second major hidden danger! Because sleeping while sitting will slow down the heart rate, dilate blood vessels, and reduce the blood flow to various organs. In addition, the stomach requires blood supply for digestion, which aggravates brain hypoxia and causes dizziness and tinnitus.
8. Eat a big meal before bed If you eat too much before going to bed, your stomach and intestines will speed up digestion, and a stomach full of food will constantly stimulate the brain. If the brain is excited, people will not be able to sleep peacefully, just as Chinese medicine says: "If the stomach is not in harmony, you will not be able to sleep well."
9. Drink tea before bed Tea contains caffeine and other substances, which can stimulate the central nervous system and make people excited. If you drink tea before going to bed, especially strong tea, the central nervous system will become more excited, making it difficult to fall asleep. |
