Many people have had various experiences related to pain, such as headaches, stomachaches, and pain from abrasions and bleeding. Pain accompanies every stage of our lives and is the feeling we are most reluctant to accept. Among these pains there is a kind that drives many people crazy. It is intercostal neuralgia, which is what many people call pain under the right ribs. This kind of pain usually makes it impossible to relieve it with your hands, and it may even get worse. So is pain under the right ribs a disease? How does this pain occur? What are the general causes? Many people who experience pain under the right ribs do not understand these things, and thus use drugs indiscriminately, delaying normal treatment. Here are a few explanations. Intercostal neuralgia refers to pain along the path of one or several intercostal nerves. It is often related to viral infection, toxins, mechanical damage and lesions of adjacent organs and tissues. The pain mostly occurs between the 5th and 9th intercostal spaces on the left side. The pain is stabbing or burning, and it sometimes worsens in paroxysmal ways. The pain usually intensifies during strenuous exercise, sneezing, coughing or deep breathing. There are tender points along the diseased nerves, and the affected nerve distribution area often has hypersensitivity or decreased sensation. This disease belongs to the scope of "flank pain" in traditional Chinese medicine. The flank belongs to Shaoyang, and it may be caused by internal liver and gallbladder diseases, or external injuries caused by wind, cold and dampness, which can lead to unfavorable Shaoyang meridian qi, blockage of meridians, and cause flank pain. Intercostal neuralgia is divided into secondary and primary types. Thoracic vertebra degeneration, thoracic vertebra tuberculosis, thoracic vertebra injury, thoracic vertebra dura mater, tumor, ankylosing spondylitis and other diseases may cause radicular intercostal neuralgia; rib, mediastinal or pleural lesions may cause dry intercostal neuralgia. Primary intercostal neuralgia is rare. When intercostal neuralgia occurs, pain can be seen from back to front, radiating in a semicircular shape along the corresponding intercostal space; the pain is tingling or burning. The pain worsens with coughing, deep breathing or sneezing. The pain often occurs in one nerve on one side. From the above explanation, we can understand that the pain under the right ribs is a kind of neuralgia, which is mostly caused by damage to the thoracic spine. Even sneezing will cause severe pain. Know this knowledge. People who suffer from this disease of pain under the right ribs can seek medical treatment in time, avoid using ineffective medicines indiscriminately, and avoid overworking themselves and being in a state of fatigue for a long time. |
