How to eliminate fleas

How to eliminate fleas

Cockroaches, rats, flies and mosquitoes are what people define as the "four pests". Because these four creatures cause certain harm to people's living environment and most of the time endanger people's physical health, so in addition to panic, people hate them the most and want to get rid of them as soon as possible. In fact, in addition to the four creatures mentioned above, there is another creature that can cause harm to people's physical and mental health, and that is fleas.

Speaking of fleas, many people have probably never seen them, because they are relatively "invisible" and therefore elusive. In principle, fleas are parasitic pests. They usually suck human blood, and at the same time transmit bacteria and viruses to the human body, so people are eager to kill them all. So, what is the most effective way to eliminate fleas?

There are about 2,300 known flea species in the world, and 452 species have been reported in my country. The most common ones are rat fleas, human fleas, cat fleas, dog fleas, etc. Fleas are external parasites of homeothermic animals and are holometabolous insects with a life cycle of egg-larva-pupa-adult-egg. Female fleas need to suck blood before laying eggs. Flea eggs are usually laid on the host's body. Because flea eggs are not sticky, they can easily fall from the host to the ground. They then hatch on the ground, molt twice, spin silk, make cocoons, and pupate. After emerging from their pupae, the adults jump onto various hosts.

Adult fleas are relatively small, generally 1-6mm in size, with a flat body and yellow to dark brown in color. They are mostly free-living parasites, with particularly developed hind leg segments and are good at jumping. Fleas have three bundled stylets in their mouthparts, so they are good at biting. Fleas are afraid of light and usually hide in dark and warm corners, but they come out at night and jump onto their hosts. Fleas suck blood at least once a day, and the number of times they suck blood increases as the temperature and humidity increase.

In general, the methods and measures for flea control include: keeping the environment clean and tidy; keeping pets clean and hygienic; spraying insecticides in the air; fumigation; indoor residual spraying, etc. For ordinary families, the main way to eliminate fleas is to continuously use some ready-made insecticides such as Flea Repellent; when purchasing and using insecticides, you should be sufficiently vigilant. First of all, you should use them in moderation, stop when necessary, and never use them when necessary. The second thing is to leave the scene immediately after spraying the pesticide. After half an hour, open the windows for sufficient ventilation before entering the room. Secondly, infants, toddlers and children whose brains are not yet fully developed must not come into contact with any pesticides to avoid adverse effects on their brain development. Also, be careful not to contaminate food and cooking utensils when using pesticides in the kitchen. Since most insecticide aerosols are flammable, do not use them in the kitchen where open flames are used to avoid causing a fire.

Through the detailed introduction above, we have a certain understanding of the morphology and living habits of fleas, and of course we also have a certain grasp of the methods of eliminating fleas in daily life. In fact, when it comes to fleas, prevention is better than elimination. The most important thing for us is to keep our living and working environment clean at all times, so that fleas will naturally not come out to visit us. Of course, when we accidentally find fleas, we must take the most effective approach to eliminate them and protect our health based on the actual situation.
