What is black heart cotton

Blackheart cotton is a new word that has only appeared recently. Blackheart cotton is also called recycled cotton. It is mainly used to make cotton clothes or some cotton products and is recycled by the people. However, this kind of use is unacceptable to us. Many of our friends know that blackheart cotton is harmful to our human body.

What is black heart cotton specifically? How to identify black heart cotton? Let's take a look at it together.

Black-hearted cotton is mainly the cotton we used before, which is reprocessed and used again. After being rinsed with chemical substances, black-hearted cotton can easily cause harm to the human body. It is now one of the items banned by the country. Let us learn about it together and increase our knowledge.

(1) Mixed with old bleached cotton. Old and tattered cotton (the so-called ancient cotton) is bleached and mixed with normal cotton to make it look real.

There are three points to note when identifying it:

①Color. The white color of normal cotton is natural, while the white color of bleached old cotton looks fake.

②Gloss. Normal cotton fibers have a waxy layer on the surface and a natural luster, while bleached old cotton has no luster.

③Elasticity. Normal cotton has good elasticity when grasped by hand, while bleached old cotton has poor elasticity.

(2) Blended with recycled cotton. Recycled cotton is the leftovers and cotton cloth from cotton mills. It is regenerated cotton through chopping and combing. The comparison method should also be used for identification:

①Look at the appearance. Recycled cotton is cotton-like, with smooth fibers but great variations in length, which is different from the natural appearance of normal cotton fibers.

② When the recycled cotton is pulled by hand, there are long fibers in the cotton bundles, which are recycled chemical fibers mixed in. It is strong and not easy to break.

③Observe the cotton under ultraviolet light. If it appears in various colors such as yellow or blue, it is produced by the chemical fibers in the recycled cotton. Normal cotton does not have this color.

(3) Blended with cotton linter. Note four points:

①Appearance. Cotton mixed with cotton linter has many small cotton knots (white stars), fibers of varying thicknesses, and many impurities.

②Color. Normal cotton fibers are white in color, which is different from the white color of cotton linters.

③Elasticity. The elasticity of cotton becomes worse after being mixed with cotton linters.

④ When the cotton bundle is pulled by hand, the fiber layer before bundling becomes obviously shorter, which is inconsistent with normal cotton fibers.

(4) Identification of high-grade cotton sprayed with lard and talcum powder.

①Smell the smell. This adulterated cotton has a lard smell or even a fishy smell.

②Look at the color. The cotton is white with a light red color and has no luster.

③Rub. Rub the cotton vigorously with both palms, your hands will be covered with white powder and the lumps of talcum powder will fall off; spraying lard will make your hands feel greasy.

(5) Spray diesel on low-grade cotton and sprinkle stone powder or sand. The method is basically the same as item (4), except that the smell and color of the adulterated cotton are different.

After reading the detailed introduction above, I believe that everyone now has a certain understanding of what is blackheart cotton and how to identify blackheart cotton. In our daily life, when we want to buy quilts or other cotton products, for our health, we can refer to the methods introduced above to test the cotton and avoid buying blackheart cotton.
