Beware! Six major hazards of intravenous infusion to the human body

Beware! Six major hazards of intravenous infusion to the human body

Excessive infusion is harmful, and every doctor knows this. Why do they knowingly do it? It's nothing more than for the benefit of individuals and units. To put an end to excessive infusion treatment, in addition to strengthening publicity and education, doctor self-discipline, and the cooperation of patients and their families, we must rely on the system to protect doctors' treatment and restrain doctors' behavior; ensure the normal operation of medical institutions, and restrain the blind expansion and profit-seeking behavior of medical institutions with "high-end, complete, strange, new and cutting-edge" methods. Only then can we hope to restrain blind excessive infusion treatment. The following introduces the possible hazards of intravenous infusion to warn the public.

1. Fever reaction

The introduction of pyrogenic substances, incomplete cleaning and sterilization of infusion bottles, or contamination can cause the patient to feel chills, shiver, and fever. In severe cases, the fever can reach 40 to 41 degrees Celsius.

2. Pulmonary edema

Because the infusion speed is too fast and too much fluid is infused in a short period of time, the circulating blood volume increases sharply, the heart is overloaded and causes edema, which can be life-threatening in severe cases. For patients with heart failure or a history of heart disease, rapid and large-volume infusion may aggravate heart failure and, in severe cases, induce pulmonary edema.

3. Phlebitis

Long-term infusion of highly concentrated and irritating drugs, or placement of highly irritating plastic tubes in veins for too long, can cause chemical inflammatory reactions in the local venous wall. Local venous infection can also occur due to lax aseptic operation during the infusion process.

4. Air embolism

The reason is that the air was not completely exhausted during the infusion and the rubber tube was not connected tightly and had leaks. As long as a small amount of air enters the vein, the patient will feel abnormal discomfort in the chest, followed by difficulty breathing, severe cyanosis and hypoxia, and may even lead to sudden death.

5. “Malignant” adverse drug reactions

Intravenous drips are also more likely to cause adverse drug reactions, especially allergic reactions, than oral medications. If taken orally, the impurities in the medicine that can cause allergies may be digested in the digestive tract or may not be absorbed by the body. However, when given through an IV, these impurities directly enter the bloodstream, and in severe cases can cause anaphylactic shock or even death. Recently, the media has frequently reported that patients died suddenly after using Chinese medicine injections. This was caused by this reason. The media also revealed that a hospital found black flocs in the infusion bottle. A doctor said, "Adverse drug reactions are ultimately caused by the drugs themselves, but intravenous infusion exacerbates these adverse reactions, which can lead to shock or even death in severe cases. The serious adverse reactions caused by "Xinfu" injection, Houttuynia injection, Acanthopanax injection, and Yinzhihuang injection are shocking and lingering pain.

According to statistics from the China Safe Injection Alliance, more than 390,000 people die from unsafe injections in my country each year. At present, in order to cheat money, some village clinics or hospitals have a serious problem of "giving intravenous drips to all diseases". Even for minor illnesses such as toothache, colds and flu, you need to get an IV drip. Expert surveys found that more than 95% of people are unaware of the dangers of abusing infusions and unsafe injections. According to statistics from the World Health Organization, more than 70% of infusions are unnecessary. The shocking abuse of intravenous infusions and irrational use of drugs have brought serious disasters to mankind.

6. Harm of granuloma

Recently, a 25-day-old newborn baby in the UK died of enteritis. He had been infused with thousands of milliliters of fluid in the later stages of treatment. Granulomas were found in his lung pathology sections, which were caused by insoluble particles brought about by the large amount of fluid infusion.

In recent decades, people have gradually become aware of the hazards of insoluble particles during infusion. The human eye can see particles with a diameter of more than 50 microns, but it is precisely those harmful particles with a diameter between 2-50 microns, which are invisible to the naked eye, move, and cannot be metabolized in the body, that enter the blood vessels and cause various infusion contamination diseases.

During an inspection of IV bottles, a hospital in Beijing found that 598 particles with a size of 4-30 microns were found in 1 ml of 20% mannitol solution. In 1 ml of 50% glucose added to penicillin solution, 542 particles with a particle size of 2-16 microns can be detected. If there are so many particles in one milliliter of medicine, then there will be 200,000 particles in 500 milliliters of medicine. Since the diameter of the smallest capillary in the human body is only 4-7 microns, if you frequently receive intravenous drips, particles larger than 4 microns in the medicine will accumulate in the capillaries of the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, muscles, skin, etc. If this continues for a long time, it will directly cause microvascular thrombosis, bleeding, increased venous pressure, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis and cancer. Particle blockage can also cause local blood supply deficiency, tissue ischemia, hypoxia, edema, inflammation, allergies, etc. A large number of particles that enter the human body with the infusion are phagocytosed by macrophages, causing the macrophages to enlarge and form granulomas.

A large number of particles that enter the human body with the infusion are phagocytosed by macrophages, causing the macrophages to enlarge and form granulomas. A scholar performed an autopsy on a corpse that had received 40 liters of IV drips throughout its life and found that the corpse had more than 500 granulomas and a large number of blocked microvessels in the lungs alone.
