Which ear features lead to the longest life span?

The ear is a microcosm of the human body. Almost all changes in internal organs can be reflected in the ear, among which the most closely related is the kidney. The ancients also regarded big ears as a symbol of good fortune, and scientific research has confirmed that the size of the ears does have a certain relationship with human life span. Modern research suggests that, like other mammals, the growth and development of the entire body and internal organs of humans stops after adulthood, but the ears are the only exception. They continue to grow throughout life, growing an average of 1.4 to 2.2 mm every ten years.

Although its growth rate is not obvious, it is indeed growing, which is related to the organs of the body. Since the length of the auricle increases with age, the ears of older people are indeed larger than those of younger people. From this point of view, it is not the case that people who live long lives because they have big ears, but rather that their ears grow big because they live long. It was found that the ears of the elderly over 80 years old all have two characteristics.

Ear length:

For most people, the upper part of the ear should be level with the eyebrow, and the lower part of the ear should be level with the base of the nose. The scientific way to calculate the length of the auricle is from the tip of the ear to the bottom of the earlobe. The average length of an adult's ear is 5 to 8 cm. However, for the 50 centenarians surveyed, the length of their auricles from the highest point of the ear helix to the lowest point of the earlobe were all greater than centimeters. Moreover, the longer the lifespan, the longer the ears. Among them, the auricles of two centenarians were 8.4 cm and 8.5 cm long respectively.

Big earlobes:

The earlobe is the lowest point from the tragus to the ear. The average length of an adult's earlobe is 1-2.5 cm, but the earlobe of a centenarian is at least 1.8 cm long, and is thick, soft and enlarged. Among the 50 centenarians surveyed, 8 had earlobe lengths between 1.8 and 2.5 cm, 39 had earlobe lengths between 2.6 and 3 cm, and 3 had earlobe lengths between 3.1 and 3.2 cm. All of them were over 90 years old.

It is not difficult to see from the survey that long earlobes and large earlobes are characteristics of longevity. We can go back and observe those long-lived elderly people and we will find that their earlobes do have these two characteristics. We call long auricle and big earlobe the "longevity ear sign". But it must be noted that long earlobes and large earlobes are only one of the characteristics of longevity. Long-lived people generally have long ears, but people with long ears do not necessarily live long, and people with short ears do not necessarily live short. Because whether one lives a long life or not must be comprehensively analyzed based on the complexion and shape of the ears as well as various vital signs in other parts of the body.

Let's take a look at some diseases that can be diagnosed from the appearance of the ear:

Pale ears: often seen in people with colds and also in people with insufficient Yang Qi;

Red and swollen ears: This is usually a symptom of "getting angry", which is often caused by liver and gallbladder fire or damp heat;

There is an obvious diagonal line on the earlobe, which indicates that the heart qi is weak; tinnitus and deafness both indicate that the kidney qi is weak.

People whose ears have nodular or cord-like protrusions, dot-like depressions, and lack of luster often have chronic organic diseases, such as cirrhosis of the liver, tumors, etc.

The local blood vessels in the ear are too full and dilated, and circular and segmental changes may be seen: this is common in people with abnormal cardiopulmonary function, such as coronary heart disease, asthma, etc.

Finally, the editor would like to point out that the ancients believed that the kidneys opened up to the ears, so big ears were a sign of strong kidney qi. Sufficient kidney qi means a long life, so if you want to live a long and healthy life, it is important to protect your kidneys.
