Eight things to buy less at home

Eight things to buy less at home

In order to improve the living environment and make life more convenient, most people will use some commodities, but they don’t realize that this may mean spending money to buy pollution. Recently, a popular health website published an article listing eight items that are not necessary in life.

1. Air freshener.

It cannot remove odors at the source, and the chemical particles it sprays can easily be inhaled into people's lungs. The best way to improve indoor air is to ventilate it or put some plants indoors.

2. Special cleaning agent for sewers, toilets and other sanitary ware.

These things can easily burn the skin, eyes and body tissues. To clean these areas, it is best to use baking soda and vinegar, soak them first, and then rinse them with hot water.

3. Canned food.

The packaging of canned food is coated with epoxy resin containing bisphenol A. This chemical has been linked to hormone disruption, obesity, heart disease, and more. It is best to eat fresh, frozen or glass bottled foods.

4. Insecticide.

Toxic components in pesticide residues pollute the air and can also be brought onto carpets through people's shoes, posing a health hazard to family members.

5. Bottled water.

The chemicals in plastic bottles will seep into the water and affect your health. It is best to bring your own water bottle when you go out.

6. Rubber toys.

The polyvinyl chloride used to make toys can leach phthalates, which have been linked to hormone disruption, and lead, which damages the nervous system, both of which pollute the air.

7. Sofa cushions.

The amount of dust mites and mold on it is about the same as on a toilet seat. And cushions filled with foam contain toxic flame retardants, which have been linked to cancer, birth defects, thyroid disorders, and reproductive and nervous system disorders. It is best to use wool and cotton, and it must be swept and cleaned regularly.

8. Perfume.

Perfume contains more than 800 chemical compounds. Diethyl phthalate in perfume is suspected to be carcinogenic and can also cause reproductive system disorders.
