First, the mechanical force of water flushing can help reduce the amount of virus residue in the wound; more importantly, the rabies virus is sensitive to lipid solvents (soapy water, chloroform, acetone, etc.), 75% alcohol, iodine preparations and quaternary ammonium compounds. The use of soapy water and disinfectants can effectively kill most of the viruses around the wound. Therefore, thorough flushing and disinfection of the wound can greatly reduce the risk of rabies.

The more promptly the wound is treated, the better the effect of clearing and killing the viruses that have invaded the wound will be. Therefore, regardless of whether the injured person is ready to go to the hospital for treatment, it is very important to treat the wound by oneself as soon as possible after the injury.

How do you treat wounds yourself? What should you do specifically?

(1) First, flush the wound with running water (such as tap water) at a certain pressure.

(2) Clean the wound with 20% soapy water (soap can also be used) or other weak alkaline detergent.
