Acclimatization is a disease

Acclimatization is a disease

When some people go to a foreign country, they will lose their appetite, suffer from vomiting and diarrhea, and feel weak all over. People often say that this is due to acclimatization. Some elderly people even take a bag of soil from their hometown when they leave, saying that drinking it can prevent "acclimatization". Why does "water and soil incompatibility" occur?

Modern medical research has proven that the so-called acclimatization is actually a disease of intestinal flora.

Observations have shown that when the fetus is developing in the amniotic fluid in the uterine cavity, the gastrointestinal mucosa begins learning and recognizing memory. Breast milk and various feeding foods after birth initiate the selective growth and settlement of gastrointestinal microorganisms. They continuously accept substances from human food and induce corresponding dominant symbiotic flora based on them. By adulthood, the number of symbiotic bacteria in the human gastrointestinal tract can reach 100 trillion, with 500 to 1000 species.

The weight can reach 1.5 kg. If all cells in the human body are counted, the body's own cells account for only about 10%, while the number of symbiotic bacteria cells accounts for nearly 90%.

The symbiotic bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract are not only numerous, but also carry more gene groups than humans. They continuously learn, identify, and remember through lifelong contact with the food they ingest, affecting people's preference, absorption, and tolerance for food. As the saying goes, "you never stop learning", this is why a family members have similar eating habits and body shapes. In fact, the reason why some people gain weight even if they drink cold water, while others can maintain a thin figure no matter how much they eat, may not necessarily lie in the genes of human cells themselves, but in whether the symbiotic bacteria in their gastrointestinal tract can screen and identify food for human absorption and utilization. This also explains why people always miss the food they ate in their hometown as children when they leave their hometown after becoming adults, but children born in a foreign land tend to like the local food and are no longer used to the food of their hometown.

It can be said that it is the symbiotic bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract that determine people's absorption and utilization of the food they consume, and also determine people's nutritional metabolic status. Going further, it is these symbiotic bacteria that constantly identify, learn and remember various substances that enter the human intestines, including various external pathogenic microorganisms, parasites, animal and plant antigens... and constitute an important part of the largest body cavity immune barrier that connects the human body to the outside world.

When people go to a foreign place, the environment changes a lot, especially the types of food change. The gastrointestinal symbiotic bacteria cannot adapt to this change for a while, and bacterial flora disorder will occur. The normal flora in the body will change in type, quantity, virulence, etc. Some pathogenic bacteria that usually coexist with the body will immediately turn from friends into enemies and make people sick. At the same time, bacteria that normally provide nutrients to the body and help or promote food digestion and absorption will also be inhibited and reduced. This series of maladaptive changes in the human body is actually intestinal dysbacteriosis, and people will experience symptoms such as loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea, and general weakness. Once the symbiotic bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract adapt to this new change and form a new dynamic balance of the bacterial flora, the above symptoms will disappear. People will say that this is due to adapting to the new environment and climate.
