Why does the hotel put 4 pillows?

How can you sleep worry-free? The ancients said "a high pillow brings peace of mind", but modern medicine believes that a pillow that is too high or too low is not good for the cervical spine, and a wrong position will cause problems. In the short term, you may feel sore and uncomfortable, and in the long term you will have to undergo major surgery.

★It is very important to use the pillow correctly when sleeping, and the pillow must be placed at the neck. You can do a self-test. When you lie down, if the lowest point of your chin is facing the sky, it means the pillow is too low. If your chin is pressed down, it means the pillow is too high. The chin should be kept horizontal to be the comfortable and correct pillow height.

Sleep takes up one-third of our life, so we must be careful with our posture. Some parents think that letting their children sleep on a hard bed will help their bones grow straight. In fact, the amount of flesh on the human body's buttocks, waist, and shoulders is different. A hard bed will prevent the curves of the body from sticking to the bed surface, making it impossible to relax and rest, which is uncomfortable and unhealthy.

Many people are not used to sleeping with pillows, which causes their heads to tilt back when they sleep. The pressure on the cervical spine is twice as high as when they lean forward. This will definitely cause problems in the long run. As for the height of the pillow, it can be slightly lower for young people and slightly higher for older people, because the flexibility of the cervical spine will change with age. The older you get, the stiffer your spine will be, and the more support it will require.

★When sleeping on your back (supine position), the pillow should just cover the entire head to the neck, not the shoulders, and certainly not only half of the back of the head. It is best to place a small pillow under the knees; when sleeping on your side, the height should be doubled, and a small pillow should be placed between the knees; it is best to avoid sleeping on your stomach because the cervical spine will be under too much pressure; when getting up, remember to lie on your side first, support yourself with your hands, and then get out of bed. Do not sit up directly from lying on your back. He particularly emphasized that no matter how correct the posture is, it is not advisable to keep it fixed for too long. You must change it after a long time, turn over when sleeping, and stand up and move around after sitting for a long time, so that the spine can be maintained well.
