What to do if the tooth fell out but the root is still there

In daily life, many of our friends pay less and less attention to their dental health. Frequent consumption of sweet things can easily cause damage to teeth, especially for children. Many of our friends did not pay attention to their dental problems during their childhood, which resulted in the consequences. So the next article will introduce to you how to treat tooth loss and tooth root loss.

What should I do if my tooth is broken? Is it necessary to extract the remaining root?

Dental experts at Zhide said that caries and trauma can cause extensive damage to teeth. In order to avoid a series of sequelae and restore beauty and function, patients should go to the hospital for treatment and repair as soon as possible. After examination by a doctor, if the remaining teeth are stable, the roots are long enough, and the alveolar bone is long enough and has sufficient support, most of these remaining teeth do not need to be extracted and can be fixed and restored. Treatment involves the following steps:

In the first step, the doctor prepares, enlarges and fills the root canal, which is commonly known as root canal treatment. After 2 weeks, if the patient has no discomfort, the original apical inflammation has recovered.

In the second step, the doctor prepares the tooth that has been root canal treated. First, the crown is prepared to be flush with the gums, and then a position for the post is prepared in the root canal. Its length is about 2/3 of the length of the root canal, and its width is about 1/3 of the width of the root canal. Then take the model and seal the root canal opening with gutta-percha.

The third step is to take the model to the technical room, where the technician will prepare the posts and external porcelain restoration crown.

In the fourth step, the doctor tries out the finished post and restoration crown in the patient's mouth, modifies and adjusts them, glues the post into the root canal, and glues the restoration crown to the post. In this way, the restoration is completed. The advantages of this type of fixed denture are that the restoration is consistent with the size of the original tooth, the patient has no foreign body sensation, the chewing function is good, it has no effect on pronunciation, and there is a wide range of color options. However, there are also some disadvantages. For example, porcelain restorations are brittle and easy to break, and cannot be used to bite hard foods. In addition, this type of fixed denture is not as easy to clean as removable dentures. Therefore, patients need to brush the repaired denture carefully when brushing their teeth every day to avoid plaque and tartar irritating the gums and maintain good contact between the crown edge and the gums.

Friends, if you are in daily life, you must pay attention to your dental health. You can choose toothpaste that prevents and treats tooth decay and brush your teeth once or twice a day. Long-term neglect of your teeth will cause great harm to your teeth. The above is an introduction to the teeth that have fallen out but the roots are still there.
