Treatment methods for exposed dental nerve

Treatment methods for exposed dental nerve

I believe everyone must have heard of a disease? It is called exposed dental nerve. This disease is a common dental disease seen in outpatient clinics. Although the harm to the body is not particularly great, it will still bring a lot of unnecessary trouble. So how do we treat it? Let’s discuss it together.

Teeth are divided into three layers. The outer layer is enamel (the hardest), the second layer is called dentin, and the nerves are inside the dentin. If hot, cold or mechanical stimulation is applied to the tooth enamel, no pain will be felt. But pain can be felt in the dentin. Because dentin is composed of many small tubules (dentinal tubules). There is no unified explanation as to why dentin can transmit pain, but it is generally believed that the correct theory is the dentin fluid flow theory. Moreover, some of the nerve protrusions inside the pulp are located in the dentinal tubules. So this can transmit pain.

If there is real pulp leakage, depending on your age, if the root apex is fully developed, you can just do root canal treatment directly and then just put on a condom. If the root apex is still trumpet-shaped and has not fully developed, a pulpotomy is required to allow the underlying root apex to continue to develop (this is probably the better way now. I don't know if there is any new technology now). Any nerve that is exposed will generally become infected.

Dental nerve exposure mainly depends on the different symptoms, and the treatment options are also different. The cost standard is based on the local situation. Let's briefly summarize it. Generally speaking, there are the following types.

①. Deep caries: The dental nerve is exposed, with no special symptoms. There is caries (cavities). Just do not touch or eat. "Comfort treatment" is feasible. Protect the dental pulp. The treatment cycle is 7 days. The cost is about 100-150 yuan (including the cost of filling the tooth)

②. Pulpitis: The dental nerve is exposed and congested. Short-term sharp pain occurs when exposed to cold or hot stimulation. It cannot be touched. It is accompanied by spontaneous pain. It is more severe at night than during the day. "Mummy treatment" and "root canal treatment" can be performed under anesthesia to remove pulp vitality and eliminate inflammation. The treatment cycle is 10-15 days. The cost is about 180-300 yuan.

③. Trauma (biting hard objects or bumping) causes tooth fracture and exposes the dental nerve. It is congested and cannot be touched. It is very sensitive to any external physical factors. Pulpotomy can be performed under anesthesia under X-ray. The dental nerve is removed. Root canal filling is performed after anti-inflammatory treatment. After 7-10 days of observation, there is no discomfort. Porcelain crown restoration is performed for permanent protection. The treatment cycle is 15-30 days. The cost is about (treatment cost) 300 yuan - (porcelain cost) about 1,000 yuan.

Note: The specific understanding depends on the local dental medical environment. It is recommended to go to a dental specialist hospital for a comprehensive examination as soon as possible. And choose the appropriate treatment plan according to the doctor's advice. Remember not to delay the treatment time and go to a private dental clinic.

Through the introduction in the above article, I believe everyone has a general understanding of exposed dental nerves? The situations of exposed dental nerves are also different, which requires us to go to a regular hospital as soon as possible to adopt appropriate methods and treatment according to different situations to avoid greater harm.
