(1) Eat on time and control snacking appropriately. So-called regular meals mean eating meals in batches. Children’s regular meals include breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. If the three meals are arranged in a regular pattern, the digestive system can “work” properly. Then, when it’s time for dinner, the children will be eager to eat. It is unrealistic to absolutely prevent children from eating snacks. The key is not to eat too many snacks, not to squeeze out regular meals, and certainly not to replace regular meals. Snacks should not be eaten whenever you want. They should be eaten between meals or after meals, otherwise it will affect your appetite.

(2) Eat cold drinks and sweets in moderation. Cold drinks and sweets have a good taste and are delicious, and children love them, but both types of food affect appetite. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that cold drinks damage the spleen and stomach, while Western medicine believes that they can reduce the function of the digestive tract and affect the secretion of digestive juices. Eating too much sweets can also upset your stomach. These two types of food have a strong filling effect and affect your appetite for meals, so you should eat in moderation. It is best to take it between meals or within 1 hour after a meal.

(3) Proper diet combination: Children need to obtain the nutrients they need for growth and development from food. However, the need for these nutrients is not equal. Some nutrients are needed more, while others are needed less. Therefore, parents should understand this aspect and pay attention to the ratio between the various nutrients in order to achieve a balanced diet. Every day, we not only eat meat, milk, eggs, and beans, but also whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. Every meal requires a combination of meat and vegetables, coarse and fine, dry and liquid foods. If the combination is not appropriate, it will affect the child's appetite. For example, if you eat too much meat, milk, eggs, and beans, because they are rich in fat and protein, the time it takes for the stomach to empty will be prolonged, and you will have no appetite at mealtime; if you eat less coarse grains, vegetables, and fruits, there will be less fiber in the digestive tract, which can easily cause constipation. In addition, excessive consumption of some fruits may cause side effects. Eating too many oranges will cause "heaty" food, eating too many pears will damage the spleen and stomach, and eating too many persimmons will cause constipation. These factors will directly or indirectly affect appetite.

(4) Pay attention to cooking methods. After cooking, the structure of food changes, making it easier to digest and absorb. But when cooking food, it must be suitable for the age characteristics of the child. For example, after weaning, the child's digestive ability is still relatively weak, so the food needs to be cooked fine, soft and tender; as the child grows older, the chewing ability improves, and the food gradually tends to be coarser and whole; when the child is 4 to 5 years old, he can eat adult food. In order to stimulate appetite, pay attention to the color, aroma, taste and shape of food when cooking, so as to increase children's interest in eating.
