Can severe periodontitis be cured?

Teeth are a very important part of our body. If humans lose their teeth, they cannot eat well. If they cannot eat well, they will not get enough nutrition, and many diseases will follow. We must take good care of them. Periodontitis is a chronic inflammation of periodontal tissue due to local factors. The main symptoms of periodontitis are red and swollen gums, bleeding, and dark red gums. So, can severe periodontitis be cured?

First, clean your teeth and remove all tartar. Then, depending on the looseness of your teeth, adopt different treatment plans, such as scraping, flap opening, loose tooth fixation, etc. Only in this way can the teeth be preserved longer.

Generally, periodontitis is caused by tartar, so you should first go to the dental department for periodontal scaling, which can greatly relieve the periodontitis. Only scaling is the best treatment for periodontitis. Other teeth cleanings are only temporary relief, and the condition will continue to worsen over time. It cannot be solved by taking medicines. Only by removing the tartar under the gums can it be cured thoroughly.

The main symptoms of periodontitis are red, swollen and bleeding gums, which not only bleed when brushing teeth, but also sometimes bleed when talking or biting hard objects. The gums are dark red and appear brighter due to edema. In addition, periodontal pockets are formed. Under normal circumstances, the gingival groove where the gums are attached to the teeth is only zero to two millimeters deep. If it exceeds two millimeters, it is a periodontal pocket.

Treatment mainly involves timely removal of gum irritants: scraping away tartar above and below the gums, keeping the tooth neck clean and smooth, preventing food residues from sticking, preventing the spread of inflammation, eliminating the periodontal pockets that have formed, and controlling bleeding and inflammation: applying anti-inflammatory and astringent drugs in the periodontal pockets, reducing purulent secretions, or performing periodontal surgery. The purpose of treatment is to prevent the absorption of alveolar bone, but absorbed alveolar bone cannot regenerate.

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammation of periodontal supporting tissues caused mainly by local factors. The age of onset is more common after 35 years old. If gingivitis is not treated in time, the inflammation can spread from the gums to the deeper layers of the periodontal membrane, alveolar bone and cementum and develop into periodontitis. Periodontitis is often developed from gingivitis, which is caused by bacterial invasion and manifests as bleeding, red, swollen and painful gums. It continues to invade hard tissues and produce periodontitis. Since there are no obvious symptoms in the early stages, it is easy to be ignored. By the time symptoms appear, it is already quite serious and the teeth may even be unable to be preserved. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen education so that patients can seek medical treatment early and receive timely treatment.

Periodontitis can be cured, but how long it takes to cure depends on individual differences, as everyone’s situation is different.

Patients should improve their nutrition, exercise more, strengthen their physical fitness, enhance their immunity, pay attention to the way they brush their teeth, do not brush horizontally, drink more water, rest more, do not smoke or drink, have a regular work and rest schedule, rinse their mouths after meals, check their teeth regularly, and maintain oral hygiene. Actively carry out anti-inflammatory treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
