What is the difference between acute urticaria and chronic urticaria?

Urticaria is a common skin disease. It is quite harmful and is very easy to recur, which will make patients very annoyed and have a great impact on their lives. Urticaria can be divided into acute and chronic. There are many differences between chronic urticaria and acute urticaria. If patients do not understand, it will easily lead to misdiagnosis and incorrect treatment. So, what is the difference between acute urticaria and chronic urticaria?

The difference between the two lies in the speed of onset and duration. Acute can turn into chronic, and chronic may be induced to become acute due to certain reasons. Urticaria, commonly known as wheals, urticaria, wind bumps, and urticaria (similar in name to rubella, but not the same disease), is a common skin disease. Depending on the onset time and symptoms, it can be divided into acute urticaria and chronic urticaria.

Symptoms of acute urticaria are rapid onset and polymorphic rash. The main manifestations are papules, papulovesicles, blisters, erosions, exudations, and crusts on the basis of erythema and edema. The boundaries of the lesions are unclear. In severe cases, it can spread throughout the body and cause severe itching. The duration of illness is less than 6 weeks. Never underestimate acute urticaria, as it can threaten the patient's life and is a very serious skin disease. If not enough attention is paid to acute urticaria, it will gradually develop into chronic urticaria, which will be very troublesome and lengthy to treat.

Symptoms and characteristics of chronic urticaria: It is transformed from repeated attacks of acute urticaria and subacute urticaria. The symptoms include rough skin, scratches, crusting, soaking and hypertrophy, partial lichenification and pigmentation, and scattered papulovesicles on the periphery. The duration of illness is greater than or equal to 6 weeks. Chronic urticaria usually occurs repeatedly, often for several months or a year. The systemic symptoms of chronic urticaria are generally mild, and the wheals may increase or decrease in number. Some are time-related, such as getting worse in the morning or before going to bed, while others have no definite pattern. In most patients, no cause can be found. The treatment of chronic urticaria takes a long time and the recovery is slow, so it is very troublesome to treat. Acute urticaria attacks very quickly and sometimes disappears on its own, but it can be very troublesome if you are not careful, and in severe cases it can even lead to sudden death.

Most cases of chronic urticaria develop from acute urticaria. The symptoms are generally relatively mild. Sometimes many small red spots will form, while sometimes the small red spots are not very obvious. Chronic urticaria is generally very difficult to treat. It requires Chinese medicine to slowly regulate the body and enhance the body's resistance, so that urticaria will slowly recover.

When urticaria occurs, it is important to find out the cause in time and eliminate it. Antibiotics are often required when there is an infection. If you are allergic to certain foods, do not eat them temporarily (such as seafood and spicy foods). Chronic infection is often the cause of chronic urticaria, but the cause of urticaria in some patients is difficult to determine or cannot be found.

In daily life, many factors can induce urticaria, such as allergic foods, drugs, dust, etc. Therefore, in order to prevent the disease, the cause of the disease should be found out as soon as possible. Do not eat spicy, raw or cold food, do not use medicines casually, such as vaccines, aspirin, etc., and protect your skin when going out.
