What is hidden sacral cleft?

The bone development of each of us is directly related to the quality of our daily lives. If the bones are not fully developed, it may cause physical disability and may even lead to many diseases. Especially for some children with congenital skeletal malformations, this kind of pain is unimaginable for ordinary people. In medicine, there is a disease called hidden sacral cleft. What kind of disease is this?

Sacral cleft is a skeletal developmental abnormality or congenital malformation of the lumbosacral region caused by incomplete closure of the spinal canal during the embryonic period. During the development of the first and second sacral vertebrae, the initial osteogenesis of the vertebral arches on both sides is incomplete, the vertebral plates are not fused, but there is no spinal cord herniation. This is medically known as occult sacral bifida, also known as occult spina bifida.

Cause

The developmental abnormality itself does not cause symptoms, but due to its anatomical weaknesses, the unfused part is cartilage tissue, which has poor toughness and is prone to secondary injury or strain, thus causing clinical symptoms.

Symptom confusion

Bone cracks are medically called fissure fractures, which are a type of fracture. In clinical practice, crack fractures without obvious displacement are the most common, which are generally caused by direct blows, minor impacts and falls, etc. However, if you do not take it seriously and continue to move, it may easily lead to re-displacement of the fracture. Displaced fractures cause pain and may even require surgical treatment.

In the early stage of the disease, symptoms may include stiffness and dull pain in the waist when standing for a long time or being too tired. Later, the pain becomes more obvious and can be triggered by general activities, but it will be alleviated and disappear after resting in bed. There may be obvious tenderness points locally.

Preventive Care

1. Commonly used acupoints and locations: Yaoyangguan, Shenshu, Guanyuanshu, Small Intestineshu, Bladdershu, Ashi, Chengshan, Yangling, Juegu, etc., as well as the Du meridian and sacrospinal muscle.

2. Commonly used hand techniques include rolling, palm pressing, finger kneading, and rubbing.

3. Operation method: The patient lies prone, and the doctor stands on one side of the patient. First, the doctor applies rolling or palm massage to the cuboid spinalis muscles on both sides of the lumbar sacral segment.

The amount of stimulation by manipulation should not be too great, but it can be combined with finger massage of the above-mentioned bladder meridian acupoints, and used alternately, generally controlled at about 10 to 15 minutes, and then finger massage of Yaoyangguan acupoint and Ashi acupoint. At the same time, rub the Du channel and bladder meridian vertically up and down, and use the heat as the degree. Without any passive movement, this method can invigorate blood circulation and strengthen the waist, enhance the tension of the sacrospinal muscles, and is the main method for treating this disease.

If there is no bone deformity, then occult sacral fissure generally does not require special treatment. If you always feel pain in your lower back, you can use massage or physical therapy to prevent and treat it. When working or studying, try to avoid bending over as much as possible and strengthen the training of the waist and back muscles to prevent the condition from worsening.
