What are the clinical manifestations of dyspnea after falling asleep

In life, some people experience certain sudden symptoms while sleeping, especially after falling asleep. Difficulty breathing is one of them. It seriously affects our work and life, and further weakens our sleep quality. It makes most people's skin worse and their mind become dazed. Whether it is studying or working, I have lost the fun I once had. So many people are confused about what symptoms it will have. So what are the clinical manifestations of difficulty breathing after falling asleep?

Sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome refers to a clinical syndrome in which various reasons lead to repeated occurrence of apnea and/or hypopnea, hypercapnia, and sleep interruption during sleep, resulting in a series of pathophysiological changes in the body.

1. Clinical manifestations during the day:

1. Sleepiness.

2. Dizziness and fatigue.

3. Mental and behavioral abnormalities: inattention, decreased fine motor skills, decreased memory and judgment. When the symptoms are severe, the patient is unable to perform work duties. The elderly may suffer from dementia. The main reasons are the damage to the brain caused by nocturnal hypoxemia and the changes in sleep structure, especially the reduction in deep sleep phase.

4. Headache: often occurs in the early morning or at night.

5. Personality changes: irritability, irritability, anxiety, etc. 6. Decreased sexual function

2. Clinical manifestations at night:

1. Snoring: It is the main symptom. The snoring is irregular and of varying pitches. It often alternates between snoring-airflow cessation-gasping-snoring. The airflow interruption time is generally 20-30 seconds, and in some cases it can last more than 2 minutes. At this time, the patient may experience obvious cyanosis.

2. Apnea: 75% of people who sleep in the same room or bed with the patient find that the patient has apnea. They often push the patient to wake him up out of fear that his breathing cannot be restored. Apnea usually ends with gasping, suffocation or loud snoring. OSAHS patients have obvious chest-abdominal paradoxical breathing.

3. Waking up due to suffocation: Waking up suddenly due to suffocation after respiratory apnea, often accompanied by turning over, involuntary movements of the limbs or even convulsions, or suddenly sitting up, feeling panic, chest tightness or discomfort in the precordial area.

4. Hyperactivity and restlessness: Due to hypoxemia, patients toss and turn frequently at night.

5. Excessive sweating: Sweating is more frequent, especially in the neck and upper chest, which is related to hypercapnia caused by labored breathing and apnea after airway obstruction.

6. Nocturia: Some patients complain of increased frequency of urination at night, and some even experience enuresis.

7. Abnormal sleep behavior: manifested as fear, screaming, talking incoherently, night wandering, auditory hallucinations, etc.

Clinical diagnosis of this disease: A preliminary clinical diagnosis can be made based on the patient's snoring accompanied by apnea during sleep, daytime sleepiness, obesity, thick neck circumference and other clinical symptoms.

After reading the above introduction to the clinical manifestations of dyspnea after falling asleep, I think everyone should have some understanding of it. This disease has many clinical manifestations. We must correctly understand its symptoms so that we can better grasp and adopt targeted methods and approaches to treat it. We must take good care of our health, discover diseases in time, and treat them early to get better.
