Can tin foil be heated?

Many friends usually like to use electric ovens to cook some food. During the heating process, most friends will choose to wrap it with tin foil. Although tin foil will bring us a lot of convenience, when the temperature is too high, it will also produce some substances that are harmful to the human body, thus affecting people's health. In severe cases, poisoning may occur.

The tin foil used for food packaging has strict requirements on the materials used. Many of the tin foils sold on the market today are actually aluminum foil. The two sides of the paper are made of plastic or special coatings, and the middle layer is aluminum. It is fine if it is only used to package food, but if it is used to wrap food and then roasted directly, it will cause direct harm to the human body.

He said that when food is processed by frying, grilling, smoking, etc., it is easy to produce carcinogens such as benzopyrene and dioxins, so it is indeed not advisable to eat too much of it. It has not yet been confirmed whether wrapping food in tin foil before baking can prevent the production of carcinogens. But regardless of whether it has the function of isolating carcinogens, tinfoil can easily cause heavy metal pollution.

Lei Zurong said that since aluminum contains a large amount of lead, once the stability of aluminum foil does not meet the standards or comes into direct contact with open flames, lead is likely to dissolve. If people often eat this contaminated food, it will affect the normal functioning of the human nervous system, hematopoietic system, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. Among them, the nervous system is most susceptible to damage by lead, which can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia, irritability, headache and hyperactivity. Lead can also inhibit the synthesis of hemoglobin and antagonize elements such as iron, zinc, and calcium, inducing anemia, which worsens with the increase of lead poisoning.

Tin foil contains a certain amount of aluminum and lead. When you eat a large amount of food wrapped in tin foil for a long time, it is very likely to cause nerve damage due to lead poisoning, often causing dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. Sometimes severe lead poisoning can also cause insomnia, headaches, etc.
