Is degreaser toxic?

We know too little about degreasers, because we call degreasers a kind of degreasing agent. Since we know relatively little about it, let's learn more about degreasers today. It has a wide range of uses in our lives and there are many types. Since we use it frequently in our daily lives, we must ask, is degreaser toxic? Because we need to consider our family and ourselves, let’s learn about it together.

Degreasers are mainly used to remove oil stains from the surface of objects, including alkaline degreasers, emulsion degreasers and solvent degreasers. Of course, degreasers are generally non-toxic, but they come in different types. Regardless of whether the degreaser is toxic or not, it is inedible.

Degreasing agent

(1) Alkaline degreasing agent, which is composed of alkali, chelating agent and surfactant, including composite high-efficiency degreasing agent, high-temperature strong degreasing agent, etc.

(2) Emulsion degreaser, which utilizes the wettability, permeability, emulsification and dispersibility of surfactants to remove dirt from metal surfaces; generally, one or a mixture of anionic, cationic, non-ionic surfactants is used and diluted with water to make an emulsion.

(3) Solvent degreasing agent, which uses immersion or steam degreasing. The main solvents used are halogenated hydrocarbon solvents and fluorinated hydrocarbon solvents.

The degreasing agent formula with surfactant as the main component will not damage the texture of metal products. A small amount of surfactant can emulsify and disperse a large amount of grease, making it easy for grease to fall off the metal surface. It is an ideal type of metal cleaning agent. Commonly used surfactants include anionic surfactants such as LAS and AOS and non-ionic surfactants such as AEO. The former has strong detergency but poor resistance to hard water, so a chelating agent must be added when used; the latter is not sensitive to hard water, but the washing temperature must be appropriate to prevent the formation of cloud points.

Avoid open flames at the operation site and maintain adequate ventilation during cleaning. Do not contact the non-solvent-resistant rubber for long periods of time. Workers who operate with their hands need to wear gloves. This product has a strong degreasing property and long-term contact with the skin will make the skin rough.

Now we have the answer to the question of whether degreaser is toxic. We use degreaser quite a lot, so we are very concerned about it. As we now have a high awareness of safety and health, we will not keep some dangerous items around us to prevent our family and ourselves from suffering different degrees of harm. Therefore, everyone should be careful to prevent any impact.
