My back is often itchy

Usually, patients will feel some itching on their backs during the change of seasons, but as time goes by, the itching symptoms will become more and more frequent, and eventually lead to frequent itching, which will affect their lives and work. Therefore, they must seek treatment according to the degree of itching, and maintain the humidity and temperature in their room.

1. The degree of itching varies. Some people can bear it, while others feel severe itching, which often worsens at night. Itching on the back skin affects the patient's sleep. Due to severe itching and constant scratching, secondary skin lesions such as scratches and blood scabs may appear on the skin all over the body. Sometimes there may be eczematous changes, lichenification or pigmentation. Scratched skin is prone to secondary bacterial infection.

2. Pay attention to maintaining appropriate indoor temperature and humidity. Eat an appropriate amount of fat in your diet, eat less or no spicy and irritating foods, and try not to eat foods that are easy to cause hair loss. Control the number of times you take a bath, do not use overheated water to scald your skin, and apply moisturizer to areas that are particularly prone to dryness and itching after bathing. Underwear should not be too tight; soft and warm cotton products are most suitable. People with blood deficiency can take some blood-nourishing, wind-removing and itching-relieving medicines. Do not scratch if itching occurs, otherwise the itchiness will become more and more severe, and once the skin is broken, it may easily cause infection.

3. Pay attention to skin hygiene and strive to lead a regular life. Avoid scratching, washing with hot water, drinking alcohol, strong tea and eating spicy and irritating foods. Those with systemic diseases should actively treat the primary disease; for patients with neurasthenia, sedatives and hypnotics can be appropriately used.

For itchy skin on the back, you should choose a mild, preferably slightly acidic shower gel. Avoid using alkaline soaps with too strong cleansing power. Even the most neutral shower gel is alkaline compared to human skin. Also, be careful to avoid using too hot water for a bath. It is best to use water that is similar to body temperature.

When bathing, you should reduce the number of baths and shorten the bathing time to avoid excessive loss of water and fat due to heat. Also, you should not scrub hard to avoid hurting the skin or even causing local inflammation of the skin, which will make the nerves more excited and aggravate the itching of the back skin.
