What is Red Light Therapy

What is Red Light Therapy

What is red light? Maybe everyone has doubts and doesn’t know what red light is. Generally, red light is used to treat tumors or malignant cells. It can treat many diseases and increase the efficiency of local treatment. So, what is the effect of such a treatment method? How does treatment work on the body?

It is effective for some acute, subacute and chronic inflammations. Because it can increase the phagocytic function of white blood cells, it also improves the body's immune function and increases the body's defense function. In addition, in the early and middle stages of inflammation, the serotonin content in local tissues increases, which can cause pain in the body. Irradiation with red light can reduce the serotonin content, thereby playing an analgesic role.

Indications: furuncle, carbuncle, erysipelas, eczema, cervical erosion, vulvar pruritus, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, postpartum infection, dysmenorrhea, phlebitis, frostbite, cholecystitis, prostatitis, periarthritis of shoulder, paronychia, brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injury, anal pruritus, chronic cryptitis, anal fissure, cystic hyperplasia of breast, acute mastitis; costochondritis, cervical spondylosis; pneumonia in children, diarrhea in infants and young children, rheumatoid arthritis, costochondritis, osteoarthritis, ulcerative structural inflammation, bronchial asthma, jaw arthritis, laryngitis, vestibulitis and other diseases.

Promotes healing of wounds and ulcers

Since the stimulation of red light can increase the number of fiber cells and increase the formation of collagen, it can enhance cell regeneration and promote the growth of granulation tissue. For example, it has good therapeutic effects on stubborn ulcers caused by X-ray treatment, ulcers caused by phlebitis, malnutrition, bedsores caused by long-term bed rest, and poor healing of surgical wounds.

Promote hair growth, accelerate callus healing, and regenerate nerve damage

Red light stimulation can accelerate hair growth, so it can be used to treat alopecia areata, seborrheic alopecia and other diseases. Red light irradiation can promote bone callus growth and fracture healing. Since red light can stimulate the growth of damaged peripheral nerve axons, accelerate the formation of nerve myelin sheaths, and speed up the reinnervation of skeletal muscles, it can treat peripheral nerve damage.

Photosensitivity therapy

Use red light combined with photosensitizing drugs to treat malignant tumors. It has certain characteristics, such as preventing tumor cells from splashing and causing less damage to normal cells. However, the high price of laser or the low output power affect the implementation of this photosensitive treatment; red light can replace this shortcoming. Because its output can reach the watt level, and the price is only 1/3 to 1/5 of the laser price. Therefore, it can be used to treat cancer.

48-72 hours after the injection of hematoporphyrin derivatives, the tumor is irradiated with red light (power density of 200mw/cm2). After 20-30 minutes, the tumor tissue becomes edematous and congested. After 24 hours, the tumor turns black and necrotic. After one week, a black scab is formed. After the black scab falls off, the tumor tissue disappears. This method can be used to treat skin cancer, oral cancer, cervical cancer and other cancers.

We know that red light therapy can remove free radicals and improve human microcirculation, so in addition to harming us, red light can also be used for necessary treatments. Many diseases can be treated with red light, including dermatitis and malignant tumors. They are all very good choices. Red light can also be used as laser.
