What medicine is effective for cor pulmonale? Common Chinese medicine prescriptions

Cor pulmonale can cause right heart failure. The most fundamental part of this disease lies in the lesions in the lungs. It is most likely to occur in cold seasons. Patients should enhance their immunity and keep warm. They can choose Chinese medicine for treatment, and home oxygen inhalation is also very effective.

1. Traditional Chinese medicine prescription: 90 grams of Astragalus, 12 grams each of Angelica sinensis and Red Peony Root, 6 grams each of Chuanxiong, Peach Kernel, Safflower and Earthworm. Addition and subtraction changes: For Qi deficiency and phlegm stasis type, add Pinellia, Magnolia officinalis, Ledebouriella tiliacea, and Fritillaria thunbergii; for Yang deficiency and water retention type, add Aconitum, Dry Ginger, Poria, Polyporus, and Atractylodes macrocephala; for phlegm turbidity obstructing the orifices type, add Acorus calamus, Curcuma aromatica, and Arisaema consanguineum. Usage: Take 1 dose daily, decoct in water and take the juice warm in 3 doses. If necessary, oxygen inhalation, antibiotics, expectorants and antiasthmatic drugs should be used appropriately. Cardiotonic and diuretic drugs should be used in severe heart failure. Indications and functions: Nourishes the lungs and heart, promotes blood circulation and unclogs meridians. Mainly used to treat cor pulmonale.

Keep the airway open and airway obstruction is the main factor aggravating cor pulmonale. Therefore, efforts must be made to keep the airway open. If phlegm cannot be coughed up, it will aggravate respiratory obstruction; steam or mist inhalation has the following advantages: moistening the respiratory tract, diluting thick phlegm, and facilitating coughing up; intramuscular injection of chymotrypsin and other enzymes can decompose mucin in sputum to dilute sputum; for weak and exhausted elderly patients, and seriously ill patients who are unable to cough up phlegm or have lost cough reflex, a sputum suction device can be used to continuously suck out sputum to keep the respiratory tract open.

2. The main contradictions of home oxygen therapy for patients with cor pulmonale are gas exchange disorders, systemic hypoxia and carbonic acid accumulation. Therefore, providing oxygen is a treatment measure from beginning to end. The principles of oxygen therapy during the exacerbation period of cor pulmonale are: long-term, continuous, low-concentration, heated and humidified oxygen inhalation. It should generally last for more than 16 hours a day for 4 weeks, with breaks during the day and without interruptions during sleep. In recent years, oxygen therapy has become popular in households. Home oxygen inhalation can reduce the mortality rate of cor pulmonale from 60% to 20%, which is a significant effect.

3. Reduce the burden on the heart. During the aggravation period of cor pulmonale, about 25%-70% of patients develop heart failure, which is an important cause of death from cor pulmonale. Therefore, we should try our best to reduce the burden on the heart and protect it. The patient should absolutely rest in bed: if he cannot lie flat, he can take a semi-sitting or forward-leaning sitting position, with a quilt around him to make him feel comfortable and not tired; except for urination and defecation, he should reduce activities; he should not eat too much, and he can be given diuretics and cardiotonic drugs. In recent years, it has been found that captopril has a significant effect of dilating arteries and veins, which can reduce the heart's preload and afterload. 12.5 mg each time, 3 times a day, 10 days as a course of treatment, has a good effect on improving heart failure caused by heart disease.

Dietary therapy recipe: 12 grams of perilla seed, 100 grams of polished rice, and a little rock sugar. First wash the perilla seeds, mash them, put them into the pot together with the glutinous rice and rock sugar, add appropriate amount of water, boil them over high heat first, then simmer them into porridge over low heat, and take it warm twice a day, morning and evening. This prescription has the effects of strengthening the spleen and drying dampness, resolving phlegm and relieving cough. Suitable for people with cough, sputum, chest tightness and poor appetite.
