Knee ligament sprain with effusion, you need to know how to deal with it

After a ligament sprain, you must go to an orthopedic hospital for treatment in time. The key is to choose the appropriate treatment method according to the degree of your sprain. If the knee ligament is sprained and there is fluid accumulation, you can apply ice before treatment. In addition, timely surgical treatment is also required.

1. Ligaments are tissues that connect two bones. Ligaments are flexible, fibrous, dense connective tissues. It attaches to the movable part of the bone but limits its range of motion to prevent injury. In the past, it was generally believed that only athletes with high demands on sports function needed active surgical repair after ligament injury, while other people could mostly be treated conservatively. However, the results of long-term follow-up have shown that even if non-manual laborers suffer ligament injuries, they often suffer from severe functional impairment in the late stage due to the lack of reasonable current treatment in the early stage. Therefore, early repair is recommended.

2. Before seeking medical treatment, it is also common sense for sports enthusiasts to properly handle these injuries on their own. Ice should be used for the first two days after ligament and muscle strain, and massage and hot compress can be used afterwards. The specific steps are as follows: First, at the beginning of ligament and muscle strain, the injured part will show symptoms of redness, swelling and congestion. At this time, you should stop exercising immediately and try not to let the injured leg bear weight to avoid worsening the injury;

3. Secondly, use ice packs for cold compresses to relieve pain and swelling symptoms, apply cold compresses for about 15 minutes each time, 3 times a day; thirdly, you can bandage the injured area with a breathable bandage, which can relieve the symptoms of congestion. The tightness of the bandage should be moderate; at the same time, elevate the affected area to avoid congestion; fourthly, after the injury is effectively controlled, it is recommended to go to a Chinese medicine clinic or hospital for examination and treatment. Massage, acupuncture, and ointments are all very effective.
