Parvovirus is actually an acute infectious disease caused by puppies. People should pay attention to the prevention of this disease and observe their dogs to see if they have symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or plateau dehydration. 1. Parvovirus is a non-enveloped, single-stranded, DNA virus. Can infect canines through minor antigenic shift and natural mutation. 2. Canine parvovirus (CPV) is an acute infectious disease caused by canine parvovirus infecting puppies. There are two clinical phenotypes. The hemorrhagic enteritis type is characterized by severe vomiting, hemorrhagic enteritis and a significant decrease in leukocytes; the myocarditis type is characterized by sudden death. Regardless of the type of clinical manifestation, it is characterized by high morbidity, high mortality and strong infectiousness. 3. Parvovirus is spreading continuously. Currently,[2] parvovirus has spread to areas with high concentrations of pets across the country. Canine parvovirus is most common in puppies aged 2-3 months. If treated in the early stages or with proper medication, the mortality rate will not exceed 20%. Adult dogs are less likely to be infected, and the mortality rate for adult dogs is also very low. If the adult dog is over one year old and there is no worsening condition, generally no treatment is required. There is no specific medicine for canine parvovirus yet, but it can be treated by controlling the dog's dehydration and reducing the dog's burden through anti-vomiting and anti-diarrhea methods. 4. Canine parvovirus disease is a highly contagious intestinal disease of dogs. It causes severe vomiting, diarrhea (bloody stools), loss of appetite, high fever, severe dehydration, and even death in puppies and elderly dogs. 5. The drugs for treating canine parvovirus include monoclonal antibodies and serum, but these drugs are only suitable for use in the early stages or for adult dogs, and the effects are not obvious after the mid-term. The treatment is mainly symptomatic, taking antiviral drugs and injecting interferon. Prevention and control measures First, immunizations should be done regularly. Clinically, it was found that the immune protection of domestic canine hexavalent vaccine was low, so it is recommended to inject imported canine bivalent vaccine. Puppies can be injected when they are over 45 days old and in good health. Depending on the brand, one or two injections are required. The bivalent vaccine is a canine parvovirus and canine distemper vaccine, which is the most basic vaccine for dogs. It is very important in any case and the price is not high, so dog owners are requested to get the vaccine. The immunization period is 7-15 days after the vaccination. Because the bivalent vaccine is a attenuated vaccine, the dog's immunity is extremely weak during this period. Do not bathe the dog, do not go out, try to ventilate, and keep the dog's living environment clean. This is the most important thing. Second, when an outbreak of the disease occurs in a group of dogs, they should be isolated in time, and the kennels and feeding utensils should be repeatedly disinfected with 2% to 4% alkali, 1% formalin, 0.5% peracetic acid or 5% to 6% sodium hypochlorite. Third, use medication appropriately and do not abuse antibiotics and other drugs: |
