What is the cause of high anti-thyroglobulin antibodies

If the level of thyroid protein antibodies in the body is high, it means that the body may have hyperthyroidism. The thyroid gland is an important gland in the human body and also an important secretory organ. If the thyroid protein antibodies are high, the patient needs to receive timely treatment.

Basic understanding:

The thyroid gland is a very important gland in vertebrates and is an endocrine organ. In mammals it is located below the thyroid cartilage in the neck, on both sides of the trachea. The human thyroid gland is shaped like a butterfly and is like a shield, hence the name. The thyroid gland controls how quickly energy is used, makes proteins, and regulates the body's sensitivity to other hormones. The thyroid gland regulates these responses by producing thyroxine.

Learn more about:

Thyroglobulin antibody is an autoimmune antibody. Its increase often indicates autoimmune diseases of the thyroid gland, such as common ones such as hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis, hypothyroidism, etc. Thyroglobulin antibody is a common autoantibody in the serum of patients with autoimmune thyroid disease.

Normal results:

Normal value of thyroglobulin: 11.4~20.2mg/L. Abnormal results:

(1) Changes in serum TG are more common in malignant tumors of the thyroid gland. For example, TG can be elevated to varying degrees in follicular thyroid carcinoma, papillary thyroid carcinoma, and anaplastic carcinoma; whereas, serum TG can be normal or decreased in medullary thyroid carcinoma. The former is mainly due to the destruction of the thyroid gland and the secretion of a certain amount of TG by the tumor tissue, which leads to increased blood TG; the latter's tumor tissue comes from thyroid C cells rather than thyroid epithelial cells, so its serum TG does not increase.

(2) Thyroid diseases such as hyperthyroidism, thyroid adenoma, subacute thyroiditis and chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis can all result in elevated blood TG levels.
