There are three differences between wakame and kelp

Wakame is a popular algae food in recent years. Usually a small amount can produce a lot, so it is loved by people. However, in daily life, some people often cannot tell the difference between kelp and wakame. In fact, there are differences between wakame and kelp. Let us take a closer look at the differences between wakame and kelp!

1. Kelp is an edible seaweed loved by the Chinese people. Kelp is a ribbon-shaped body, which is divided into three parts: the holdfast, the stalk and the strap. The holdfast is a branched root that anchors the plant in the sea. The stalk is unbranched, cylindrical or flat, and serves to connect the holdfast and the strap. The kelp grows at the top of the stalk, is undivided, has no midrib, and is in the shape of a flat ribbon. It is usually the kelp we often eat.

2. Wakame is also a common edible seaweed. The difference between it and kelp is that the strips are deeply cracked and shaped like ribbons, hence the name kelp. Like kelp, wakame is also a large brown algae. The algae of kelp are brown and about 2 m long.

3. The larvae of kelp are very similar to those of undatum, but their appearance after they grow up is obviously different from that of kelp. The appearance of kelp is like a large broken sunflower fan and also very similar to a kelp, so it is called kelp. The algae of kelp can be divided into three parts: thallus, stalk and root. The stalk of kelp is flat and cylindrical, with things shaped like wood ears growing on both sides. This is the spore leaf of kelp, which is a special place for producing sporangium, which contains spores. The fronds of kelp have a distinct midrib and pinnate edges. Wakame can tolerate higher water temperatures and therefore grows well in seawater with warm currents. Kelp is distributed along the coasts of various parts of my country, with the largest amount in the Shengsi sea area. Wakame is an annual brown algae that is edible and can also be used to extract industrial raw materials.
