Localized scleroderma can cause the skin to harden. If other lesions occur, other organs of the body will be affected. Localized scleroderma can be treated with medication, taking vitamin E, etc., especially if it is discovered early and treated, the prognosis is very good. 1. Western medicine treatment of localized scleroderma Patients with localized scleroderma can be treated with oral high-dose vitamin E, compound phosphate tablets or benzhexol. You can also take Chinese medicine that promotes blood circulation, removes blood stasis, and promotes menstruation, such as Danshen tablets or Fuchun tablets. Various corticosteroid preparations can be applied externally to the lesions, or triamcinolone can be injected locally into the lesions once a week for 4 to 6 weeks as a course of treatment. If skin atrophy occurs, stop the injection. Injecting 150 mg of hyaluronidase into the lesion every day also has a certain therapeutic effect. Physical therapy can also be used, such as hydrotherapy, wax therapy, audio electrotherapy, massage, and so on. For those with joint contracture, surgical treatment can be performed if necessary to relieve the contracture and restore functional movement. 2. Prognosis Localized scleroderma has a better prognosis because there is no visceral involvement. The hard spots on the patient's skin may disappear after treatment or resolve on their own, leaving only pigmentation or atrophic scars. The patient's prognosis mainly depends on the degree of internal organ involvement, and the mortality rate of scleroderma is higher than that of the general population. The 10-year survival rate of diffuse type is 50%, which indicates a poor prognosis, while that of localized type is 70%. The main cause of death in the former is scleroderma-related kidney, lung and heart disease, while in the latter is pulmonary hypertension. Cardiopulmonary disease is the main cause of death in scleroderma. Patients with an older age of onset have a poorer prognosis. In short, the survival rate depends on early diagnosis and early active treatment. 3. Diet and health care 1. Eating more fiber-containing foods can help with bowel movements, lower blood cholesterol, lower blood sugar, improve intestinal flora, and effectively prevent the occurrence of cancer. 2. Control fat intake, eat more vegetables and fruits containing vitamins, eat more cereals, and eat less meat and eggs. 3. Control the amount of salted, smoked and grilled food in your diet, and do not eat moldy or spoiled food to reduce the intake of carcinogens in food. 4. Drink in moderation and avoid contact with other carcinogens as much as possible to achieve the purpose of prevention, thereby improving people's quality of life. |
