What to do if you have a bruise

What to do if you have a bruise

Traumatic injuries are quite common in life, so it is important to deal with them correctly and effectively. If no bleeding is seen, it is recommended to apply ice within 24 hours and do not knead the injury with your hands to avoid aggravating the symptoms.

1. No bleeding after a fall Correct: Apply ice within 24 hours Incorrect: Massage with hands. If you accidentally fall, people are always in the habit of rubbing their bodies to relieve the pain. However, experts remind that massage methods such as kneading are more effective for strain and fatigue, but improper massage after a fall can easily aggravate the injury. People are reminded that rubbing the red and swollen area after a fall will only make the swelling worse and even cause bleeding. In addition, if there is not much pain after a fall, people often think that there is no fracture. This view is wrong. There is no direct causal relationship between pain and fracture. If you rub or pinch the fracture, it may cause the fracture to be dislocated. If your skin is slightly bruised or sprained after a fall, and is bruised but not damaged, you can first apply ice to the injured area for 15 to 20 minutes, three to four times a day; after 24 hours, you can consider using a hot towel for wet compresses, so that the bruises will be quickly absorbed. In addition, it is important to note that if the fall injury does not cause pain at first but becomes extremely painful after a period of time, you must go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

2. If there is a small amount of bleeding after a fall, just rinse with saline. Correct answer: disinfect and stop bleeding. Incorrect answer: wipe it with a tissue. If you don't take good care of the wounds caused by falls, bumps, and bruises, they can easily turn into big things. Reminder: when dealing with it at home, do not wipe it with paper towels, and do not use some folk remedies, such as sprinkling soil powder on the wound to stop the bleeding. Generally, when the skin and soft tissue bleed or there is a small amount of tissue fluid exudation, it can recover on its own within a week. If it is just an abrasion with little bleeding, first rinse the wound with saline, then disinfect the wound with iodine and wrap it with gauze; for wounds without bleeding, rinse them under running cold water, wipe the skin around the wound with a clean cloth dipped in soap or disinfectant, and then use gauze or tweezers to get the contents of the wound out to avoid infection.

3. If a foreign object pierces the body and causes bleeding after a fall, the first thing to do is to stop the bleeding. Correct answer: keep the object in place to stop the bleeding. Incorrect answer: pull out the object to stop the bleeding. For wounds that bleed heavily, the principle of treatment is to stop the bleeding first. In the absence of any spare items, you can use your fingers to press on the wound without thread ends on the inside of your clothes to stop the bleeding. If you are at home, you should choose gauze or cloth. If the wound does not stop bleeding after more than 10 minutes of pressure, a bandage should be used, but the bandage should be loosened every half an hour, otherwise it may affect blood supply. In addition, when many people are faced with the situation of having nails or other objects stuck in their bodies, most of them choose to pull out the nails or other objects first and then stop the bleeding. In fact, this is wrong, because pulling out these objects by yourself may cause infection, and improper handling may also cause heavy bleeding. You should cut a hole in the cloth you carry with you, put it over the injured object to stop the bleeding first.
