Coughing is a symptom of respiratory diseases. Coughing is uncontrollable and you will want to cough involuntarily. Coughing can help us expel foreign objects from the respiratory tract. Coughing can relieve chest pain, but frequent coughing will affect our normal life. Not only will it reduce the quality of sleep, but severe coughing will also cause chest pain. So what methods can be used for treatment?

(I) "Respiratory diseases": Coughing can be caused by irritation of the mucous membranes from the pharynx to the small bronchi, among which the laryngeal arytenoid space and trachea are most sensitive to irritation. It is generally believed that coughing does not occur when the alveoli are stimulated. Coughing only occurs when the secretions, exudates or leaks in the alveoli enter the small bronchi. The causes of cough are inflammation of the respiratory organs (such as pharynx, larynx, trachea or bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis), bleeding, tumors, foreign bodies and inhalation of irritating gases.

(ii) “Pleural disease”: Coughing often occurs when the pleura is irritated or when there is pleurisy.

(III) “Cardiovascular disease”: Diseases that cause pulmonary congestion or pulmonary edema (such as left ventricular failure, mitral valve stenosis, etc.) and pulmonary infarction caused by the detachment of thrombi in the right heart or systemic circulation veins can all cause coughing.

(iv) "Central nervous system factors": The cerebral cortex can inhibit the cough reflex and is also the origin of cough (voluntary cough). That is, impulses are transmitted from the cerebral cortex to the medulla oblongata cough center, causing coughing movements. Coughing is common in autumn. This type of dry cough without phlegm, chest tightness and shortness of breath that cannot be cured for a long time can be treated with the following dietary therapy according to your physical condition and condition.

Treatment

Method 1: (Egg and Tremella Soup) Take 50 grams of dried Tremella, soak it in warm water for 20 minutes, remove the mud, impurities and stems, and boil until it is well cooked; take an egg, mix it, pour it into the Tremella soup, add sugar and take it once in the morning and evening. This prescription has preventive and therapeutic effects on the elderly, weak people with a history of dry cough without sputum.

Method 2: (Fritillaria thunbergii porridge) Take 200 grams of rice (black rice is preferred), add 10 grams of chopped ginger, and cook them into porridge. Then add 10 grams of sifted Fritillaria thunbergii powder, stir well, and take it in two doses. This prescription has the effect of Chuanbei resolving phlegm and ginger clearing the lungs, so it is particularly suitable for treating cough and asthma caused by chronic bronchitis in the elderly.

Method 3: (Purple Sweet Potato Porridge) Take 200 grams of rice and cook porridge. Before removing from the heat, add 20 grams of fresh perilla leaves wrapped in gauze (dried ones are also OK) and cook for 2 minutes. Remove the leaves and eat the porridge. This recipe is effective for cough caused by cold.

Method 4: (Erdongtang) Take 500g each of Asparagus cochinchinensis and Ophiopogon japonicus, boil until the medicine is broken into pieces, remove the residue and keep the juice, concentrate; add white sugar or rock sugar and boil until it can be pulled into threads, pour it onto a clean marble or stainless steel plate and smooth it, cut into pieces after cooling, and hold it in the mouth from time to time. This prescription has preventive and therapeutic effects on dry cough caused by common dry air damaging the lungs.

Method 5: (Lily and Pig Lung Steam) Take 100 grams of lily, 100 grams of Adenophora Root, a little ginger and salt, and stew them together with the washed and sliced ​​pig lungs. This prescription is suitable for long-term dry cough and deficiency syndrome caused by damage to lung qi and lung yin.
